this referrer from thursday kept me busy for a while. after googling and asking some experts, here is the whole story:
a while ago it was the word that the bka (bundeskriminalamt) is observing certain sites (mostly leftwing forums) from intern servers and failed in disguising the referring site, which reads like the referrer above, but in that case, had a signature of the department for "leftwing motivated crimes" the signature above is from the department against international terror/extremism.
now there is a "fun plugin" for firefox, that enables your browser to leave a fake referrer, adding sites like bka.de or even mossad. this is thought to make certain "nerd blog owners" feel more interresting.
whoever used this plugin: you got me with pants down, since i fought the law, but i lost!
if this is from the bka indeed: i am just an old fart refusing to grow up!

The university I work in (NUI Maynooth) had two campuses divided by what is now the Killcock road, but what was once the N4 main Dublin to Galway road. The two halves are very very different. The South Campus is 200 years old and is shared with St. Patrick's College Maynooth (SPCM), while the North Campus is very modern. To stop students getting squished by the constant rush of traffic on the road, a footbridge joins these two very different campuses. This is view that greets you as you crest the bridge having climbed out of modernity, and just about to descend into history. At the base of the footbridge you can see some of the stones that make up a monument to Pope John Paul the second, and in the distance you can see the spire of the College Chapel (officially the Gunne Chapel).
Sadly this view will soon be a thing of the past. This bridge will probably be knocked, as the green area in the foreground of this shot will get bulldozed to make room for a new library building. Sure, we badly need a new library, but I'm not at all sure I approve of the chosen location.
This shot was generated by tonemapping a single RAW image in Photomatix Pro, and then tweaked with Aperture's Dodge & Burn plugin.
BYD F6DM plug-in hybrid at NAIAS2008. It looks rather like a Toyota Camry. "DM" stands for "Dual Mode": electric-only and hybrid gas/electric. They'll bring this to the US by 2010, in the mid20k-low30k range.

Usually when I go to a vegetarian restaurant in China it's full of people and the food is excellent. Not at Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone, where the restaurant is empty. This is terrifying in China. Why is it empty? There's Chinese people all over the place at Nanshan. They're Chinese and this is a restaurant, so why aren't they all in there eating? Very suspicious.
Anyway, I went to Nanshan for the sole purpose of trying this restaurant, so despite the warning signs I sat down (the staff seemed really suprised to see me, which added to my worries). Long story short, the food isn't very good, and it's expensive. They have beer (which is also expensive) if you're wondering.
Trust Chinese people. If they choose not to eat in a restaurant, it's not because they're not hungry. Of course they're hungry. Chinese people simply shun food which sucks. They won't eat it. If the food was good, there would be thousands of Chinese people there eating it and you would have to struggle with crowds just to get some for yourself. If nobody Chinese is eating it, you shouldn't even taste it, it's probably not even food.
