Looks like a bookbag on this kid's back. But even Spiccoli, at Ridgmont High, didn't dress for school like this.

Our friend Pod was down from NorCal, so we got to hang out.

After the intense list making yesterday--not to mention the deep depression which settled over us upon reviewing the pages of lists--Space Man suggested we take today off to enjoy the sunny autumn weather.

After a few minutes Space Man started to wonder where he had put his mittens....It's getting a bit chilly.

Another (now traditional) photo of the churro with caramel sauce.

I went to the first plenary of my conference this morning and realized that I have no use for an hour and a half long session on cataloging digitized Medieval Manuscripts at the moment. Hanging out in my nicely air conditioned hotel room, much better.

We haven't been spending much time together lately and it's been putting a strain on our relationship. Monday we both played hooky, just to spend the day hanging out with each other.

He brought this necklace back from his recent trip as a gift for me.

Photo taken by Mike, processed by me.

back to the waterhousing after a layoff....south easterley breeze meets a playfull swell...

I'm sort of really into this stuff.

Sometimes photos don't do the moment justice.

It's the roof at work, so keep those MUFON idiots away.

Each car is equipped with a bag just in case.

From Prince Creek Road, near the Dinkle Lake Trailhead

This was after Friday’s short snowstorm, the sun came out and so did I!!

I decided to go to work but took the longer route rambling through downtown... This was one of several stops and photo ops.

The waitress in the background was making a face. She really didn't think outr waitress Nicole would take the picture. Then she was mentioning how odd it was for people to take photos in a diner.

This was taken minutes after I turned to Ian and said "This kid is gonna FREAK in about five minutes once he tries to get down". The kid is also quoted as saying "AGAIN! AGAIN!" once he was safely back on land.

Our car started to swing wildly back and forth as it is meant to do. Still, it does give one pause. How many people have been injured on theme park rides???

This kid's parents thought it'd be cute to perch their wee lad up on the tree for a picture. At first the kid was game but I could tell he was getting a little weirded out after a minute. Mom kept insisting on taking the "perfect picture".

Nano, vigilantly making sure he didn't miss a single dog that walked past.

James' favorite Jungle Cruise. I love this because it looks like we are gong really fast!

This afternoon was the longest I've spent outdoors in weeks. It felt great.

You can reserve a paddleboat online but Ian poo-pooed the notion saying "Nobody's gonna be down there today!". WELL, don't listen to me, she who drives past the mall every single day on her way to work. I've been watching the mayhem -and my commute time - grow for the past few weeks. The line might not look like a lot but this was taken from the very end.

This is the female half of the mallard duck pair that swam right under our feet at the Tidal Basin.

Playing hooky in NYC is the best way to spend a birthday!
