Me, posting early for Tuesday's Textures. This is my second "hook photo" in a row. Enough is enough for now.
For ESLs, "playing hooky" is skipping (not attending) a day of school. Unfortunately (in retrospect) I never did. Back then, I was too much of a "goody two-shoes."
"Hooky" is most likely from the Dutch "hoekje" (a nook, a place to hide). "Goody two.shoes" connotes someone extra (maybe too) virtuous or conscientious. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_History_of_Little_Goody_Two-Shoes
Location: Village of Huningue, Alsace FR.

Found this cool looking oak tree while, um, driving home from a meeting on Monday.
Photoshopped and Ortonized
Three young lads decided to play hooky today,
Fitting perfectly into that ol cheesy cliché.
Stopping in at Sharkys Pool Hall,
Ready to line up an old weathered cue ball.
It took them a while to get into a groove,
But these three brothers, had nothing to prove.
The first took a crack at Hugging the Rail,
A pretty good shot that was to no avail.
The second one slapped on the table, a wrinkled 5-spot,
So confident he was in his famous Throw Shot.
But he knew he was done when he scratched on the Pearl,
It was a shot he needed, to impress that pretty young girl.
The third young lad was clearly in control,
He knew it for sure, with that prized Jelly Roll.
He pinned their backs to the beer stained wall,
As he easily sank the cherished Money Ball.
Now that the youngest brother had taken the throne,
Nothing was left to do, but to head back home.
Tomorrow was just another day at school,
But the brothers would not forget their day playing pool.

This pool hall was on main street, and of course looked up and I could only shoot through the glass by pressing the camera up against the window, again it looks like your in the room, wow I really like this shot because it is so clean. Taken with a Hasselblad H3D-31 mega pixel camera, with a 35 mm lens, f stop 3.5 shutter speed 1/15 of a second ISO 100. Bodie State park off of highway 395 in the middle of the state, part of Mono county.
I played hooky this afternoon from work because it was such a beautiful, warm and sunny day and we dashed up to San Francisco to take a "Bridge to Bridge" Bay cruise. The cruise started from Pier 43 1/2 on Fisherman's Wharf, out under the Golden Gate Bridge, past Angel Island and Alcatraz Island, under the Bay Bridge, out to near AT&T Ball Park, past the Ferry Building and back to the pier.
At the beginning of the cruise, we were able to watch the high tech Oracle Team USA catamaran run trials in the Bay; it's sleek and fast ! The 20 meter sail towers over everything in its wake. There will be many great vantage points along the edge of the Bay to watch the 2013 America's Cup race.
Today I am playing hookie from work and I am taking DJ to the Oakland A's game...
We are going to have Root Beer Floats and eat Junk Food...

this was one happy fucking riot. I find it funny that my best picture to date - is one of football players and a politician. christ. I totally love Bloomberg in it. I love everything in it. and I really liked shooting Strahan... which is bizarre because personally I've found him to be kindof odd. but he has gotta be happy after all the shit he's been through/done... I can sort of relate to him in that way. he's not going away any time soon.
so much about what I love about the city is in this picture. I did it alot because of my friend Chris, who is really into them - I've spent some time watching him physically hurt himself watching their games (you know, hitting walls and shit). I'm also trying to prove I'm a great photographer in a way that more people will understand and appreciate.

A novelization with scenes from the movie published in a small hardcover booklet (5.5” x 7.5” size, 22 pages), likely sold in theater lobbies.
The 1931 Paramount film, “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” starred Junior Durkin as Huck Finn, Jackie Coogan as Tom Sawyer, and Mitzi Green as Becky Thatcher. Directed by Norman Taurog, it follows Huck's decision to run away from "civilizing" influences, leading to a raft adventure down the Mississippi with Tom Sawyer and Jim, the escaped slave. The film was made as a follow-up to Paramount's successful 1930 adaptation of Tom Sawyer, which featured the same main cast.

the other day our fridge went out. eric took the day off and we went fridge shopping. we stopped and got coffee and petite vanilla scones. yum. he planted my rose bush, it was a nice relaxing day. sometimes it's not a whole lot of fun handling all the "grown-up things" but whatcha gonna do?
we were left alone for a day and we promptly stored our hoes and started harvesting bay leaves and cracking almonds to smuggle home with us. First we went into the forbidden part of the house and used their cd player and turned it to full volume so we could hear it outside. Later that evening we used the good silverware and made a fire in their living room while we watched their dvds.
No doubt these two were playing hooky from school. Hiding from the high school authorities perhaps, or .....

Today, to make up for all the stuff that got cancelled and postponed for The Girl's birthday back in January, when I was sick, I pulled her out of school (along with a couple of friends and their moms), and we went downtown for a belated birthday lunch and shopping spree at American Girl. When we got home, The Girl said to me, "That was the best day ever!" Mission accomplished. And yes, all the grass really is that green - from one major rain storm. #cy365 #OffPrompt
