08164 (D3232) has hauled the sole-remaining Class 504 Manchester-Bury EMU M65451 into platform 4 at Bury Bolton Street for public viewing, indeed the unit was standing on its old stamping ground as this part of the ELR once was electrified in the days when the 1200v DC services terminated at Bury Bolton Street before Bury Interchange opened in 1980,
The remaining Class 504's were withdrawn on the 16th June 1991 when the line closed for Metrolink conversion, this unit along with M77172 recently (October 2016) were moved from a siding where they have stood sheeted over or 20 years, so restoration work can be carried out.
The occasion was the East Lancs Railway Scenic Railcar Weekend which was blessed with fantastic weather too.

This beautiful pond and it's platform are a favorite spot in the spring and summer for portrait and wedding photographers. In winter, it is still beautiful...
See below for various versions of the pond....

The front of the 1638 to Mallaig not only sticks out of the platform, but there'll be a SPAD when the class 37 backs down to head the train. These days, this would be forbidden, although I noticed a nine-car train earlier this month (October 2012) at one of London Bridge's 8 car terminal platforms which had clearly been wrongly-routed and stuck out beyond the signal. How that was resolved I don't know!

My model railroad platform in Christmas, 1978. By this time I took over setting this up from my Father.
Branch Line Society's "The Whitechapel Wayfarer" railtour, which comprised of units 508123 and 507012, stands right on the blocks in the rarely used platform 1 at Hooton on the Merseyrail system.
The tour started at Hooton and visited, Chester, Hooton, Ellesmere Port, the stock interchange line between the Northern and Wirral lines, Southport, Ormskirk, Kirkdale Depot, Bidston, Birkenhead North Depot and New Brighton, with lots of crossovers, rare curves and loops thrown in.

The immaculate platforms at Luzern station mid morning on 23rd December 2013. Although heavily used no litter or mess remain after the morning rush hour. The raised strips each side provide a guide for the blind or partially sighted to help negotiate this busy station.

OK, everything is coming out washed out, overly bright, and I'm not sure why--I processed this to fix it. The area around the viewfinder is good and black so I'm not convinced it's light leak, but it's not the most light-trapping device, so that could use some improvement. Stopping up just makes for absurdly long shutter speeds and I can't hold this whole thing that still for a long time.
Also? I think the lens is just too clean! :)
And things weren't exactly flush when I took this, hence the perspective being a bit wonky.
