A different perspective of this platform. I have to say I've never really taken any notice of railway station platforms before, but there's quite an interesting mixture of repetition, lines and textures here.
There are also some "interesting" marks and stains, which probably tell stories of some of the things that go on at railway stations...
Even with proof positive that a commuter was on the way I was ready to call it quits; I was getting pretty tired and cold. Then the dispatcher threw up a westbound green on M2 that had to be for a freight so I decided to hang around for a bit, and catch the commuter in the mean time.

Liège-Guillemins train station is the main station of the city of Liège, the third biggest city in Belgium. It is one of the most important hubs in the country and is one of the 3 Belgian stations on the high-speed rail network. The station is used by 36,000 people every day.
The new station by the architect Santiago Calatrava was officially opened on September 18, 2009 with a show by Franco Dragone. It has 9 tracks and 5 platforms (three of 450m and two of 350m). All the tracks around the station have been modernized to allow high speed arrival and departure.
The new station is made of steel, glass and white concrete. It includes a monumental arch, 160 metres long and 32 metres high. The building costs were € 312 million.

Another snapshot from Beeston Station in March 2006, this time focusing on the steps and information board on platform 1. The steps provide direct access to and from Station Road although more level access is available through the station car park and under the flyover.
