Big girl....this is the photo that takes my Flickr views over 4,000,000 : Not a huge number in comparison to some others on the Flickr platform, but I regard it as somewhat of a milestone.

As expectant passengers wait to board, a HST trainset rolls up to Platform 8 in York station. Two trains made up of Mk1 coaches occupy tracks on each side.

Ex LNER A1 Peppercorn Pacific Class 4-6-2 No 60163 Tornado draws into Platform 5 at York Station, after heading The Christmas White Rose to York from Dorridge to York.
This was the 1Z61 07:37 Dorridge to York steam charter promoted by Vintage Trains in association with the loco owners, the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust.
This was my final photo of 2025 and so I missed the chance of capturing a clean sweep of A1 to A4 motive power (plus a Castle and a Black 5) at the station in little over a month; as I had a prior engagement which precluded me from witnessing the much delayed departure of 60103 a few days later.

after not finding anything for a few weeks, today i purchased a vintage nelson slat bench. this 72 incher, while not the largest ever produced, matches the largest reproduction that herman miller still produces. from hermanmiller.com:
"'Introduced in 1946 the Nelson platform bench was part of George Nelson's first collection for Herman Miller and still stands as a benchmark of modern design. Like much of Nelson's work, the platform bench has clean, rectilinear lines, reflecting his architectural background and his insistence on what he calls "honest" design--that is, making an honest visual statement about an object's purpose.
As presented in the 1948 Herman Miller furniture catalog, the platform bench "is primarily a high base for deep and shallow cases, but it also serves as a low table for extra seating." The 1955 catalog states that the bench "has proved to be one of the most flexible and useful units in the collection." The bench was reintroduced in 1994.'"

A small cascade forms as incoming waves push seawater across the rocky platform at Petrel Cove, South Australia.
Captured using a long exposure on an overcast afternoon, softening the movement of the water while highlighting the textures of the rugged coastline.

With lots of passengers still standing on the depot platform after the 10:30 AM departure, the Roaring Camp & Big Trees Narrow Gauge Railroad brings a second section into the station, which will load and depart no more than 15 minutes behind the first one. This image was captured on Labor Day Weekend of 2025, when patronage was sufficiently large that most of the regular trains had second section. The power on the B-train today is Heisler #2 "Tuolumne", a 37-ton, 2-Truck machine built in 1899. While she waits for the passenger to board, the crew of #2 will top off her water supply from the wooden tank pictured here.
Q394-05 going east past the CSX caboose that has turned into somewhat of a display piece on the little-used Salisbury Industrial Track.
