This is the "down" platform at Barnstaple station. Since someone took the idiotic decision to close the line the platform has reverted slowly to jungle.

I can remember when the trains actually took you into St Pancras! Now they drop you off before you get there and make you walk the rest of the way...
I thought the roof of this train station was very nice. This was on the way to Arashiyama, which is a district of Kyoto on the western outskirts. I debated heading out that far from the city due to time restraints, but I just had to see it.
One of the many 'toytrains' in India, but the Kangra Valley Railway is definitely not a tourist train. As the pictures prove. It's the cheapest way to travel from Kangra to Amritsar, as you can see by the amount of passengers. We were lucky to find a railway officer who wanted to let us in 'first class'.
Kew bridge late evening. It is an interesting fact that platform 1 is allways the one for trains to London!
Question for all you railway nuts out there. Which British station is the only one in the country not to have its platforms numbered and why?
Class 20 locomotive 20048 (D8048) waits it's departure time on platform 2 at Bridgnorth, before taking us back down the line on the 12.55 Bridgnorth-Highley (13.25) local service, during the Severn Valley Railway’s excellent Spring Diesel Festival.

My ride home after a day of hard graft working in Plumley on the Mid Cheshire Line, as the 2H37 20.56 Chester-Manchester Piccadilly (22.27) Northern service, stands at Stockport's platform 4 formed of Newton Heath allocated Class 150/1 dmu 150146.

This is the 'Common Kingfisher' (details about the bird are here on wiki). While I shot this bird, it was sitting on the purge targeting the prey in the stream below. As soon as the prey was spotted, the bird was airborne and aligned like a spear... ready to go into the stream (water) below. I was lucky to capture the action into my camera.

Two empty shop spaces on Hackney Downs, Platform 1, will be turned into an Artist’s project studio and a reading room, dedicated to displaying and selling Artists' publications, ephemera and art works. It will be run by an artist, who aims to bring critical art practice into the public realm of daily commuter travel, framing The poetics of public space and offering a place for artist’s visibility outside of the normal Gallery environment.

A delegation of UAF activists went to Amsterdam to join a 2,000-strong antiracist demonstration in the city yesterday.
The antiracist demo was called by Platform Tegen Vreemdelingenhaat (Coalition Against Xenophobia) to oppose moves by the English Defence League to launch a Europe-wide group of “defence leagues”.
The EDL is an organisation of racist thugs with links to the British National Party and other fascist groups. But its Euro Defence League launch was a miserable failure, with a few dozen participants.
UAF national officer Martin Smith addressed the far larger antiracist rally. He warned that racist and fascist groups across Europe are growing and urged antifascists and antiracists to join together against this threat and expose the links between Dutch racist politician Geert Wilders and the EDL.
The day was a fantastic victory for the antifascists but the threat of the far right in Britain and Europe is far from over. This demonstration takes place one week before the a massive demonstration is planned by UAF against racism and islamophobia, supported by MCB and TUC.
