Cronulla is a single track platform, with a crossover in the middle, to facilitate two trains to be in the station at the same time. CPH7 and 1 are sitting in the back platform, while a Bondi Junction service loads on the other half of the platform.
I've stood on this platform in Vermilion, Ohio, several times watching trains go by on the Chicago Line of Norfolk Southern. But on this day I was aboard Amtrak's eastbound Lake Shore Limited watching the rail platform slide by.

Eight minutes after entering and we're there. The platforms on the Island Line are similar in depth to those of the Jubilee line; perhaps a bit smaller in some cases such as this. The trains are around 180 metres long whereas a Jubilee line train is only 125m, so these are much higher capacity.

A look up to to Platform Peak from the firetrail at the base. The impressive cairn can be seen quite clearly from below. It is quite an easy walk to the top and the tops of these ranges are a great place for walks and are not regularly visited, destinations such as Handsome Caves, Cash's Cave, Mount Dromedary and Platform Peak are just some of the walking options up here.

This is the last picture of my platform series. I tried to show some science fiction related pictures through images of modern buildings in Tokyo and Seoul. This one was supposed to be the Heat sink platform, but I figured out it was much more interesting cropped as an abstract.
Voici la dernière image de ma série de plateformes. J'ai voulu montrer des éléments imaginaires de science fiction à travers des tours modernes de Tokyo et Seoul. Celle-ci aurait dû être la Heat sink platform (Plateforme de dissipation thermique), mais je me suis rendu compte qu'elle était beaucoup plus intéressante recadrée en composition abstraite.

Taken during a tour of Aldwych underground station, organised by the London Transport Museum.
First proposed by Great Northern and Strand Railway (GN&SR) in 1898, Aldwych station finally opened by Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway (GNP&BR) in 1907 as Strand station, on a spur line from Holborn. The building itself was built following the standard design of stations as part of Underground Electric Railways Company of London (UERL) Leslie Green (1875-1908) .
Considering the purpose of the tube line was to bring travellers down to theatreland, it's quite ironic therefore that it was built on the site of the Royal Strand Theatre (which was acquired and demolished for the works).
The eastern tunnel was decommissioned in 1914, due to low use, and the station was renamed Aldwych the following year. In 1917, during zeppelin raids, 300 paintings from the National Gallery were stored on the disused Eastern platform. The station continued to operate after the Great War, but always in low numbers.
In 1940, during the Second World War, Aldwych was closed and acted as an air raid shelter, as well as resuming its role of storing national treasures (this time the British Museum and allegedly the Royal Family's tea service).
The station reopened in 1946, but passenger numbers stayed low and eventually the station closed for good in 1994.
