The sedimentary rocks that outcrop along the Newcastle coastline have been weathered and eroded into broad sub-horizontal platforms at about high tide level. Larger incident waves continue to prise joint blocks apart and abrade the platform surfaces with sand, gravel and cobbles. Repeated wetting and drying, and the growth of salt crystals works to further lower the platform surface, marking it with a variety of micro-relief forms. Bio-erosion slowly modifies the larger rock pools.

Popped out today for a drive. Some cloud but mostly blue skies.

Out today with Pauls Pix 53 for a wander around Eastbourne.

We went by train, which is so much easier than driving.

Somewhere around South China Sea, Indonesia.

I went wandering alleys on the West side of the Southern San Joaquin Valley. This particular town has an area with some wonderful old brick buildings and many electrical code violations. These transformers are feeding the violations in the alley. However, the hodge-podge of electrical wiring makes for great photos and I'm not saying anything until I've captured everything I want! Hopefully, nothing burns down before then and if it does, please schedule it when I'm available.

What we see from our platform

Córas Iompair Éireann Leyland Atlantean VZI 9 looking brand new in the middle of Dublin.

On one of my first visits to Dublin as a child, I was fascinated by this brand new Atlantean, as most of the buses at the time were standard open platform buses (of the type also seen in this picture).

Unusually for me at the time, the picture is surprisingly crisp and sharp!

Taken with my basic Kodak Brownie using 120 roll film.

You can see a random selection of my bus photographs here on Flickriver: www.flickriver.com/photos/southallroutemaster/random/

I took this picture from the top of the enclosure, from this point, you could see the platform where the lynxes use to lie down...

The platform at Texarkana (I was actually standing on the Arkansas side of the platform- the station straddles the state line) as the Texas Eagle prepares to take off into the July night bound for Chicago. I'm getting ready to board the Silver Meteor for Florida and a few weeks in the sun.

The platforms at Rowley Regis were built to handle much longer trains than use the station today therefore the platform length has been reduced by erecting a barrier. Beyond this barrier a wonderful selection of spring flowers and grasses are allowed to flourish.

Taken on Spittal Beach, on the North East coast of England. The extensive wave cut platforms act as leading lines towards Berwick-upon-Tweed!

Enjoy! :)
