Happy Macro Mondays - Plastic

I've always wondered about the reason for my photography, and the more I look around, I find myself trapped in a jail of guilt and responsibility to ensure the safety of our planet. I may not have the money and resources to change the world, but I may have the ability to change one individual to do the right thing. So I beg you to pick up your trash and keep our planet in a clean state.

Contribution to Macro Mondays challenge for 23/4/18 - theme "Plastic"

Something I had wanted to try for some time is the process of cross polarisation. So a while ago I 'acquired' a couple of clear plastic forks from the work canteen but left them sitting. Then the MM challenge this week created the perfect opportunity and this is one of the results.

For anyone not familiar with the process you basically need a light source (computer monitor is ideal), some plastic and a polarising filter.

99% of this image was created in camera. I will admit to pushing the vibrance, luminance and saturation up a little. The background was actually pure white turned black by the polariser.

Just a squeeze was enough to see its wrinkles. That caught my attention. I grabbed it with one hand, squeezed it, and took a picture of those beautiful wrinkles. I added a blue tone for the contrast. This friend accompanies me in these moments and helps me relax so I can be here with you.

Plastic is the theme for Macro Mondays, April 6th.

The theme for today's Macro Monday is plastic. I used my 100 mm macro lens and a 36 mm extension tube. The size showing is about a one inch section of a clear yellow plastic ruler. My goal was to take something fairly boring and hopefully spice it up a little with composition and lighting.
