We wanted a group of friends to come and paint, so Luk was trying to get the plastering done in time.
The artex was just gross. Thankfully, I knew a good plasterer who sorted it out. The walls are now as smooth as my bum.

I used an attachment on my drill to do the mixing. Make sure you put the water in first and then add the plaster, the other way around take 5 times longer and get very lumpy. Mix it until smooth, so that it just about sticks to the trowel when held on its side.

This is the plastered cove taking shape. It didn't take any less time than the dining room. The plasterer never used Durabond. Why? We'll never know. Of course, this took days to fully dry.

for those wondering about security systems.. ALL ground floors doors & windows, (and first floor which can be accessed easily) will be equipped with 8.5 mm security laminated glass designed to take approx 200+ blows from a baseball bat and still prevent entry...
... we are also planning to get another 2 furry security systems of the 100lb Rottie or African Mastiff / Boerboel type :)
