As a decorative artisan concerned with improving indoor air quality, I would like to re-introduce you to the lovely attributes of lime and clay plaster wall finishes for homes and wineries.

For the first time, last weekend, I did some proper plastering. It was just a little bit, as you can see: The first picture shows a hole in our kitchen ceiling caused by a water leak, which I have cut to a rectangular shape up to the joists, before nailing in a bit of plasterboard. Then the second picture is materials and tools, and then the finished surface, which is rougher than I wanted - I need to find out how real plasterers get that super-smooth surface...

Ann has been using a combination of clay, sand, linseed oil and horse manure to plaster the only upper framed wall on the house. Normally linseed oil is not used on cob as it limits breathability, but with the conventional style... not an issue.
Lime plaster is a skilled trade. The lime plaster should protect our home for many years...a few hundred??? Lime plaster is nearly carbon neutral as it re-absorbs CO2 as it ages.

This is Pebbel, simply doing what cats do in the garden. There is, however, a sad story behind this picture. Pebbel is a very sweet cat and she loves our attention and our presence. Perhaps even a bit too much. Over the last six months she has developed some nasty peeing problems. At first we blamed Poeka, until we caught Pebbel in the act a few times. We have kept cleaning up after her, treating affected plastering with every available product. We have applied every tip and every trick in the cat manual but nothing seems to work. We took her to the vet for medical check-ups, to rule out any physical problems. Right now she's on relaxing medication, but the problem persists. With six, clean litter boxes at her disposal, she still sprays against one of the walls. We are reaching the point at which she may have to go .........
The only explanation for her behaviour that we can think of, is jealousy. She'd love to have us and the house to herself. She can follow us wherever we are, like a dog rather than a cat. She can also have jealous reactions when one of the other cats is on our lap.
Does anyone on Flickr have any tips left that we can try? Your help is more than welcome, and we really hope that we won't have to find her a new home, even though that may be the only option left. We think she would be best off in a quiet home, without other cats.
UPDATE 14 JULY 2017: Last week we took Pebbel to her new home, where she can make a fresh start. It feels like a defeat that we couldn't make her stop spraying, and it was a very hard decision to make. So far she seems to be doing fine in her new home, where she's the only cat.
Emerging from his sick bed, Brett plasters the lintel while Sue starts on the reveal. The plastering was finally completed the following day, and now our first guest room needs to dry out before the floor can be sealed, the plasterboard wall painted green, and the timber cornicing, skirting and architraves applied. Carefully taped-in bubble wrap makes a very good window protector that keeps its shape well and doesn't get in the way during finish plastering.
We did the scratch coat section shown here in three hours. The attic is the most laborious room in the house, as plaster has to be brought up in buckets from below. Downstairs we can plaster out of a wheelbarrow, and an equivalent section takes an hour.
Romeo the 29-year-old Standardbred gelding is always interested in what the humans are up to. Here he has taken a break from lawnmowing to look into the “monkey stable” while Sue is finishing plaster with water spray and a soft float. This is the same horse who would try to eat the walls before they were plastered – a strawbale house to a horse is a bit like a gingerbread house to people!

The board is our placement for the "truth" window, which we'll remove just before plastering, paint marking a border. This is the last straw wall left to cover up... yay!

Brett working on the fiddly parts of the west wall of the main bedroom, being the twin niches, and the parts in between the ceiling joists. Sue has done the large areas in between and around the rounded wall end.
Upstairs landing, reed mat walls prior to clay plastering. I liked them just like that, if it wasn`t a big fire risk I might have been tempted to leave it like that!
We like doing lunchtime to evening sessions when we plaster together, and because the sun still goes down before 6pm we use head torches combined with a lantern to see what we are doing after dark. The plaster is very glittery in LED light – really shows up those quartz grains!

He was on the bus already when I got on, waited for three. He was TWO seats ahead of me too. I kept looking at his hair. It reminded me of the Blue Moon hair.....that was Amazing! I decided to take a photo and it was a bit blurry. When I took it again....the sleeping woman move across and perfectly! covered his head, perfectly,and during the exposure. You can see she rested on her friend. See the striped bag when he gets up? I did.
It was the 111C bus which gets done at Carey Square, and I walk about 1/2mile. Come around the bend and there is Jesus Plastering! right there. There isn't any better sign, except he was around on the 20th too,see last collage in comment.
