This is the sumptous barrel vaulted plaster ceiling in the long gallery. Literally composed of panels depicting Old Testament biblical scenes, mirrors strategically placed the length of the room is the only way in which to view it comfortably. Note too the pendants, alternate ones formerly holding candle fitments or the like. This ceiling dates to c.1630's.
This is a piece of work produced as part of a mini project titled 'The Five Senses'. During this project we looked at the five senses: Sight, Sound, Taste, Smell, and Touch. We were given three compulsary materials; Stone, Polystyrene and Paper, and a choice between two other medias; Wood and Cheese. These were then paired up (Eg: Sight and Cheese) but could not be used twice (Eg: Sight and Cheese + Sight and Polystyrene / Sight and Cheese + Touch and Cheese).
This piece represents Stone and Taste. Instead of looking at the usual taste (mouth), I looked at taste in music, and made a speaker listing a variety of music genres. It was created in Plaster as a maquette, due to it being a short, mini-project, being but a few weeks in length.
Everything above 5 feet in the Supreme Court chambers isn't wood, it's painted plaster. Pretty impressive.

This painted plaster cast is a copy of Donatello's David, the first known free-standing male bronze nude produced since antiquity. Plaster copies were a popular means of studying the artist's original sculptures without the expense of travelling to Italy. The realism of this lithe, youthful hero with classical, refined features and a self-assured contrapposto stance inspired many 19th-century artists.*

Donatello: Sculpting the Renaissance

This first major UK exhibition to explore the exceptional talents of the Renaissance master Donatello, arguably the greatest sculptor of all time, presented a fresh vision of the artist and his influence on subsequent generations.
Donatello (about 1386 – 1466) is arguably the greatest Italian Renaissance sculptor. He revolutionised sculpture both through his inventive treatment of imagery, and his mastery of an extraordinary range of materials – including marble and stone, bronze, wood, terracotta and stucco as well as unusual mixed media. He rarely repeated himself, striving for innovation and never quenching his thirst for experimentation.
Born in Florence around 1386, Donatello is one of the most inventive and influential artists of the Renaissance. Throughout a career lasting over 60 years, his extraordinary sculpture was at the heart of the revolution in art and culture taking place in 15th-century Italy.
Always at the cutting edge, Donatello combined the growing interest in ancient Greece and Rome with familiar traditions. He used a wide variety of materials and techniques, creating innovative sculptures to adorn public and private settings. Through exceptional ingenuity and emotional insight, he captured the essence of the human experience in sculptural form and paved the way for sculptors and painters alike.
This exhibition explores Donatello's creativity and unique vision, his workshop practices and collaborations, and his enduring impact on artists across the centuries.

After four weeks in a splint, Doc decided a plaster cast was in order. As you can imagine, it's kind of loud over here.
Armature construction — strips of hessian have been dipped in liquid plaster before being laid up on the wire mesh armature. Once that has dried, plaster is added to build up the form.
The repair and repainting project at St. Thomas Catholic Church was done during February and March of 2015, and was completed before Easter. These photos show the the progress that had been made on this particular day in February.

the tadalakt plaster in the bathroom needs to be redone. the substrate wasn't sufficiently dry before the finish coat was applied and compressed, so the plaster cracked. plus, the lime plaster 'ate' the blue color.
My father's old wheelbarrow that holds I believe to be drywall. I'm not sure if that's exactly what it is, don't quote me on it.
