The Gladding McBean factory in Lincoln, CA has been "green" long before the term was invented.
According to both of our tour guides, virtually nothing goes to waste. To cite one example, on the second floor of the factory, holes in the wood floors are patched with enormous saw blades. Outside in the yard, the white substance in the background consists of destroyed Plaster of Paris molds that is awaiting shipment to a factory that produces sheet rock.
