Parece ser que a esta técnica se le llama "improvisational quilting".

Uno de esos proyectos rápidos, sencillos y de satisfacción inmediata :·)

japanese fabric placemat in the making for my very macrobiotic mother -in- law. hope she likes them

And another set of placemats created on my gocco.

Heavily processed image of one of our placemats on our table.

Now that parkcitygirl got it in the mail I can show it off. I think it turned out nice. It was my first placemat. Made with fruit fabrics and Liberty scraps.

I decided to use two different colored threads for the placemats. I started with the brown thread, but I didn't like the look of the brown lines on the bright colored squares.

By the way I started machine quilting from the the seam line toward the outside. Is there a better way to do it?

(If you want to see more photos of this work in progress, you'll find them in the set "A quilter's diary / WIP". Happy sewing!)

I made a few placemats for our table this week out of some untreated canvas dropcloth. The leaf prints were made by my little ones, making it a family affair.

There's a super simple tutorial on my blog if you'd like to try it out: lilfishstudios.blogspot.com/2011/09/pocketed-placemat-tut...

just waiting for binding

I'm going to try to make up a few festive placemats for the kids to bring with their lunches over the next few weeks. This little party-ghost is the first.

I finished my place-mat practice. I need to take a small break from quilting and make a dress for my dd who is going to a Father/Daughter Ball. I was working on the last of the quilts when dh asked how the dress was coming and made me feel very guilty. The quicker I finish the dress then the quicker I can get back to this!

Inspired by Lotta Jansdotter's Simple Sewing book I had a go at making some placemats with this wonderful fabric from Superbuzzy. But I have to confess it was painful. Turning and pressing all those quarter inch seams was tedious and akward to say the least and my machine hated the four layers of canvas and mangled the bottom stitch. Oh for a serger…

Estava ensinando geometria à filhota...

E brincando com o compasso, na folha do papel, desenhei essa mandala.

Bem, então ela me desafiou à fazer no tecido... : D

Ampliei o 'molde', e essa foi a 1ª.

Depois fiz o assento do puff de garrafas Pet ...

Ecomo eu gosto de costuras em curvas.. vem mais por aí... ; )
