The big ship is currently under construction, it will feature full interior, which is a rare characteristic on lego tall ships that have been build with a tumblehome.

The Pirate Ship and Skull Rock: a powerful scene from Adventureland in Disneyland Paris. The ship houses a small, counter service eatery called Captain Hook’s Galley while Skull Rock is part of Adventure Isle, the Tom Sawyer Island equivalent of Disneyland Paris’ Adventureland.

What I love most about this vignette is it’s a very purposeful throwback to the Fantasyland of old in Disneyland in California. Both the ship and skull rock were in Fantasyland until the thematic redo of 1983. It made for a great, imposing visual that helped balance out Fantasyland’s Medieval pomp with a bit of skullduggery. I’m happy it lives on in a perhaps more thematically appropriate area, but I do think the Fantasylands of the world could use a bit more of the danger they have lost over the years

I spotted this interesting Pirate Flag flying whilst out on a walk. Luckily for me, there was a beautiful breeze - just enough to breath life into the subject.

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me

We pillage, we plunder, we rifle and loot

Drink up me hearties, yo ho

We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot

Drink up me hearties, yo ho

A little history:

Captain Samuel Bellamy (c. February 23, 1689 – April 26, 1717), later known as "Black Sam" Bellamy, was an English pirate who operated in the early 18th century.

Though his known career as a pirate captain lasted little more than a year, he and his crew captured at least 53 ships, making him the wealthiest pirate in recorded history before his death at age 28. Called "Black Sam in Cape Cod folklore because he eschewed the fashionable powdered wig in favor of tying back his long black hair with a simple band, Bellamy became known for his mercy and generosity toward those he captured on his raids. This reputation earned him another nickname, the "Prince of Pirates". He likened himself to Robin Hood, with his crew calling themselves "Robin Hood's Men"

Bellamy was the youngest of six known children born to Stephen and Elizabeth Bellamy in the parish of Hittisleigh in Devonshire, England, in 1689.

Pirate Barbie and Joan Jett both have the same facesculpt. I love the mean vibe they give :) btw Pirate Barbie ir worth avery penny - not only she has beautiful head with soft hair, but also she has layered clothes that you end up with many single fashion pieces to use for other style combos! Wonderful!

If you have been down to Cathedral Park lately, then likely you have seen this boat moored to the dock under the bridge. It belongs to a Pirate Dan (with a name like that I have to assume he is one of many). Pirate Dan is a displaced river-squatter who has been living in Pirate's Cove (I'm detecting a pattern here) just upriver. He has been living on the river like this for a couple of decades, the last ten of them in this boat. He's not anti-social, he just prefers the quiet and solitude the cove gave him and the handful of other boatpeople that lived there. Well, it seems some bad apples moved into the neighborhood and started to cause trouble, catching the eyes of law enforcement. So the sheriff has moved some of the non-troublemakers out to temporary berths while they sort out the area. Dan has been stationed here, next to the dock under the St. Johns Bridge. He doesn't really like it much. It is much noisier and busier. The nearby dog park drives his dog a bit crazy. But he's making do and hoping Pirate Cove gets cleaned up sooner rather than later.

I asked if I could make a portrait of him, but he declined, or rather he said he would sit with a portrait if I gave him a chance to "tell his stories". At the time I was leading a class and he had already tied me up for 20 minutes telling me what I have related so far. I figured if those weren't his stories, I had better come back when I had a whole morning available. That morning has not yet materialized, but maybe tomorrow.
