092013: Nogales, AZ - This Inukton Pipeline Robot is used to travel down pipes and tunnels that may be too small for a person to crawl through. The Inukton has a camera mounted to the front of it and the Border Patrol Agents can control the robot and view what its seeing from a control box. The Inukton Pipeline Robot was purchased Asset Forfeiture Funds, so it did not cost the taxpayers any money.

This pipeline was being laid crossing HWY 137 between Ozona and Big Lake, TX. I don't know where it began nor where it will end. This area is a part of the huge Permian Basin Oilfield; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permian_Basin_(North_America)

I do know where I snapped the pic was somewhere in the middle. It proceeded out of sight in both directions. I had just been in a rainstorm so I didn't want to walk through the mud to get any closer. So, just guessing, it appears to be about a 36 inch diameter pipe.

Wow, can you imagine how much gas or oil can flow through this line?

I tried unsuccessfully to get information on it using Google and a couple of other sites.

A major cause of pipeline damage is someone accidentally striking an underground pipeline. Above-ground pipeline markers identify the route of an underground pipeline. Always Call 811 three days before digging to have the exact location marked.
