A pipe organ in an old Berlin church.

Abstract seems to be my theme these days. Testing an old manual focus Pentax lens on my Nikon. Something not working about the DoF, and my manual focusing isn't the greatest. Thought this turned out pretty good, though. The subject is a weed I stuck in this pipe last fall to take shots of it sticking up in the air. I noticed this evening that it slipped down into the pipe and survived the winter.

Pipe Nebula is part of a bigger dark horse nebula in Ophiuchus constellation. Some of the darkest skies are necessary to see it visually. This was taken from Cherry Springs state Park in PA with very little or no light pollution from south.

This is a ND 500 pipe quench. A quench is a piece of equipment that is used to quickly cool down hot gases. Due to the reduced cross section in the pipe area, intimate contact between the incoming water and hot gas is created. The water is then instantaneously absorbed by the hot gas thus inducing a rapid temperature drop. The gas temperature can drop from above 1000°C to below 100°C within a very short distance.

Many of us remember Bing Crosby as one of America's most beloved singers and one of their most famous pipe smokers.

27.9.12... I love the smell of pipe smoke.. I don't remember my grandpa on my Mum's side, but I do remember the smell of his pipe. This man was sitting outside the library earlier and I lingered for a while to sniff his smoke!!!!

Pretty sweet wood carving in my house of a guy either playing a funky instrument or smoking a really large pipe, I'm going with the later of the two.

The biggest pipe I saw all day!

Yes, it is tobacco thank you very much.

Now that I've looked up what a gopher looks like, I realize this might be something bigger like a nutria or prairie dog. The body is kind of stuffed animal-ish and it walked on all fours when it jumped into the pipe. Any ideas? (pokes CDozo and TX Dogwood)
