Today's airbrushed style pinup photo celebrates the start of December with Kirsten in this Coca Cola Christmas themed advertisement! It's a common rumor that the modern day 'look' of Santa Claus was invented by Coca Cola. With the red and white colors on Santa matching the red and white of Coca Cola, seems like it could be true. Actually, that modern look came well before Coca Cola started using it. What Coca Cola DID do, however, was popularize that look into the conscious of the entire country to become the fixture it is today. This retro advertisement is part of the ongoing Coca Cola original ad recreations. The colors, fonts, language, and graphics of these have been very carefully researched and recreated to match the original style of the advertisements exactly.

Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features once again Melissa in this tribute to the US Army Air Forces, mainly the 8th Air Force and all the different Bomb Groups that took to the uncertain skies to strike deep behind German lines. Melissa would sure be a very welcomed sight for any bomber pilots coming back from a long tough mission. Melissa is wearing an authentic Crusher Cap with headphones, Mae West Life Jacket, B-3 Jacket, and is holding B-1 Flight Pants. Behind her is a Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress.

Today's pinup is another 'real pinup photo' that I'm posting occasionally throughout the year to remind those who enjoy my pinup work that every pinup you see starts as a studio taken photograph. The uniforms and equipment are real and the models are really in the studio. I prefer the vintage style processing in the finished product over just having a real studio photograph as it's unique. There are a bazillion pinup photographers out there who shoot and post pinup shots looking crisp, clear, and modern day looking. It's a similar pinup style you can see just about everywhere. That being said, some people might occasionally like a 'real' photo without the vintage effect added to remind them that these are all real models shot in the studio. Here's Rachel in this retro 'space girl' theme that was popular during the atomic age of the 50s.

Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Shalyah in this swimsuit pinup! Going back to the roots of the classic 1940's style pinup often featured in magazines such as Esquire or True Magazine, these minimalistic pinups by George Petty and Vargas featured mainly one thing: the pinup. While the gals could have some props like telephones, household items, etc; these pinups were the classic masterpieces that defined the pinup era. These pinups were the source for thousands of nose art paintings on World War 2 aircraft.

Today's brand new airbrushed style pinup photo features Brittnee in this Lockheed P-38 Lightning aviation pinup! First built in 1939, this twin engined 'fork tailed devil' (the name the Germans gave the P-38) ran on basically two P-40 Allison Engines with turbo superchargers. This 37 foot long 52 foot wide fighter had a range of 1,300 miles and could achieve over 400mph. Standard P-38s carried one 20mm cannon and four .50 cal machine guns all in the nose of the aircraft. It could carry rockets, bombs, or drop tanks on the wings. It was a multi-role aircraft able to bomb targets, dive attack ground targets, provide photo reconnaissance, fight at night, and provide long range escort to bombers when fitted with drop tanks. The P-38 was the US Army Air Forces main escort fighter until the P-51 Mustang came into full service. Famous ace Major Richard Bong scored 40 kills in his P-38 Lightning during the war. Over 10,000 were built overall with the last P-38 being retired from the US Air Force in 1949. Other countries continued to operate the P-38 till 1965!

Happy Halloween! Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Kayla in this accidental Halloween moment! Kayla thought she had her costume all figured out for Halloween, simple, but effective as a ghost! But what she didn't anticipate was the lightning which gave all those around a glimpse at what's underneath!

Today's airbrushed style pinup photo features Gelsey in this Coca Cola pinup! From the 1930s into the 1940s, Coca Cola pushed the 'Coca Cola Girl' into their advertising quite heavily. Often doing some everyday task from working in a factory, serving in the military, or even playing at the beach with the gals always taking a break from their current task to have a Coke (in order to 'Refresh' themselves before continuing on with that task). This retro advertisement is part of the ongoing Coca Cola original ad recreations. The colors, fonts, language, and graphics of these have been meticulously researched and recreated to match the original style of the advertisements.

Another entry into the 'Aviation Pinup Series' featuring each branch of the US Military... today's airbrushed style pinup photo features model Beth, the Army Air Force, and famed tigershark mouth Curtiss P-40 Warhawk! First built in 1938, this single engined fighter also known as the 'Tomahawk' and 'Kittyhawk' is probably most known not actually for it's service in the Army Air Force but flying for the 1st American Volunteer Group (AVG) with the Chinease Air Force in a group known as the 'Flying Tigers.' These American volunteers, eager to jump into the war before America's entry in late 1941, claimed over 100 enemy aircraft destroyed. The P-40 would be used in all theaters of the war including Africa and early models were present at Pearl Harbor the time of the attack. The classic 'Tigershark Mouth' seen on the P-40s is said to have originated from Royal Air Force's 112 Squadron in North Africa. The first USAAF victory against a German aircraft was actually with a P-40C Warhawk in mid 1942. While the P-40 had many strengths, by the time the WW2 was in full gear with all countries involved it was considered inferior compared to that of the Lightning, Thunderbolt, and Mustangs. However, the P-40 proved itself in breaking Japan's air power with the bulk of the 1941-1942 Army Air Force operations performed by P-40s.

This pinup is part of a new 'simple' type of aviation pinup that I'll be doing more of in the coming months using Army Air Force, Navy, and Marine aircraft ranging from fighters to transports to bombers. Each will feature a pinup with an aircraft and the matching US insignia for that aircraft as we go through each branch of the service honoring the pilots and aircraft of WW2. The background will also be themed to the aircraft's color schemes during the war.

Wouldn't it be nice to get dressed up and made up and then just roll around into different pinup poses while a camera person snaps 10,000 pictures of you? 'Alright, now gently roll onto your back and bring your knees up to your chest. Hold them in place. Good - hold that for a second.'
