Sax Zim Bog, Minnesota.
This species was a lifer for me, and it was plentiful at the Bog. The challenge was to find/create a desirable composition. This species was visiting feeders in several places, and with birds that come to feeders, I watch how they stage down or up from the feeder, to help determine a set-up. I was not introducing new perches in this environment, so I had to see what was available.
~ In the pines, in the pines, where the sun never shines
I shivered the whole night through ~
The song can let you shiver too.

I've recently spent some time up in the Scottish Highlands. The focus of the trip was for animal I'll never tire of seeing; the Pine Marten.
The last few years have been focussed on the Black Isle. This year I spent my time in Ardnamurchan; a remote, wild and unspoilt peninsula on the west coast of Scotland near Fort William. I absolutely love it there despite the midges!
I got back earlier this week and have been working through a load of photos taken while I was there. So here's a first selection. You can expect plenty of Pine Marten photos to come! ;)

Never thought I'd be able to get a photo of a warbler. Usually I'm craning my neck, looking straight up into tall trees through my binoculars. I got lucky during migration when this active little guy was flitting around some lower branches. You can see his trademark yellow/olive coloring and broken eyering.
The 10/11/21 Macro Mondays theme is Side lit.
These are the petals of a pine cone that my dog dropped at my feet as if to say, "here's your Macro Mondays subject"...☺
This Pine Marten was a regular evening visitor to the garden of the place we stayed in Adnaurchan; attracted by a supply of marmalade and peanut butter. It's challenging to get a decent image in the low light, but despite being very noisy, this one turned out OK.
There were Pine warbler all over the place in the Pine Barrens. I guess that makes sense since there were pine trees all over too. (lol)
I hope everyone enjoys this image!

There were four Pine Martens running through the trees and on the ground and this young one scampered up a tree to get a better look. Photo taken in Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario
