POLLOCK RANGE

Growing up, I herded livestock; hunted animals and birds. When hunting, I often saw the African weaver bird and became fascinated with this creature’s skill and patients when constructing its nest. Later in my practice, having watched the film Pollock, my increase in interest for Jackson Pollock’s work grew. The latter manifested in these works, created using a trailing technique that equates to resembling the African weaver bird’s methods of building and Jackson Pollock’s epiphany in art

MATRIX-RANGE:This range came about using found objects collected while walking, objects that seemed interesting enough to be re used to create texture or form. I picked up bolts; buttons; an old pricing stamp; parts of an old type writer and computer parts. Our studio is situated in an industrial area and my work within this range reflects industrial elements hence I refer to myself as a chameleon artist.
