Painted pillars in the Gothic church St Mary (Marienkirche) in Anklam, Germany. This church was mentioned for the first time in 1296, but the beginning of the work on the church dates to the middle of the 13th century. When the building started they were going for the Romanesque style, but when tastes changed (in the Middle Ages), so did the plans for the church. Today it is a quite beautiful Gothic church with the ubiquitous high, slim pillars and vaulting - and a lot of well preserved painted decorations. The building was hit by bombs in the Second World War, but of the interior only the south aisle was more severely damaged.

The church is a so called hall church, in the Gothic style known as brick Gothic.

I like to give dull places a second look. Subsequently I discovered the crescendence of the shadow and the dark doorway completing the rhytm of the pillars.

Surprising compositions in the everyday, a special view of buildings, interiors ... lines made abstract. I hope the intention comes across. The name of the series is Lines and planes.

This bridge is the dividing line. Atlantic Ocean is on the right and the Chesapeake Bay is on the left. Under the bridge, you can see to the vanishing point. This is the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, the longest in the world.

I really don't know why, but there's something about his pic I like.

This was taken while on a recent trip to Chicago. These pillars are in Lake Michigan along Chicago's beach...I assume they must serve as some sort of breakwater.

Maybe any of you Chicagoans can correct me if I'm wrong.

It’s up and down at the moment. Over the last 3 weeks I’ve had a more active time photography wise after a good period of inactivity, but now I’m feeling a little burnt out again. I may venture out tomorrow morning to perversely shoot a rain forecast sunrise, that should really put the dampeners on the old photography lark.

This is an image taken almost a month ago, that I had planned to reprocess with some H-alpha data taken on the same night but I hadn't had time to get around it until now.

Another shot from the High Stile ridge, giving the wider view of Pillar and its slopes falling away down to Ennerdale water and the flat lands beyond, that lead eventually to the Irish Sea.

The Ennerdale car park is at the far end of the water, so it was a two and a half hour trudge along that track in the valley bottom even before beginning the ascent..

The Williams Covered Bridge in Lawrence County Indiana and built in 1884. By far the longest covered bridge I have ever seen! This shot was taken at about the halfway point to cut out all the graffiti left by a bunch of vandals…sad!
