Making piles to eventually get split. The logs are getting cut up into pieces that will fit into our woodstove - it is a bit smaller than most. They are going to be stacked until he gets a good pile then in the splitter and ready to be stacked and dried for next year.

I spent much of the day kicking piles of leaves as we wandered through Park Cytadela today...oh and I occasionally took a shot of some of the beautiful things I encountered in between piles of crunchy leaves. And to top off the stellar day, it is also Halloween. And true to tradition I have purchased gobs of candy to hand out and prepared my film fest for the evening. Alas, no one will probably come to the door for a treat, so I will have to eat all of the candy myself. Don't worry though, I bought my favorites.

Miles of Piles.
These huge timber piles, used as sea defences, stretch for miles along the Solent coastline
ROCK PILES. The quartz monzonite forming the rock piles was once part of a molten mass which was forced upward into the overlying older Pinto gneiss rock. The monzonite cooled before reaching the surface and crystalized into solid rock. Erosion has stripped away the darker Pinto gneiss exposing the outcrops.
