In the previous images I've posted of this flower, I included the leaves as a compositional element. For this image I wanted to focus the attention on just the flower.
Strobist info: Lit with one YN560-II in a Honl snoot directly underneath the flower and pointing up as the main light, and a YN560 in a softbox above and to the left of the flower for fill light. Both strobes in manual mode were triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N radio trigger.
Other plants, flowers, fruit or thingys that I've photographed using strobes, can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant set. In the description for that set, I list resources that I've used to learn how to light with off camera flash. www.flickr.com/photos/9422
Other Callas that I've exploited are in my Calla Lilly set. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157626082181550/

You should watch Castle to understand my reference. It's a very very very very very good show.
These Pigtail Bridges could also be called "Corkscrew Bridges", but that wouldn't be as cute. Anyway, we found these along Iron Mountain Road in Mount Rushmore National Park. Designed in 1932 by Cecil Clyde Gideon to gain elevation while not messing up the terrain. Very cool!
Never too old
There have been a few pigtail periods in my life. The first was kindergarten. Then, I enjoyed them in 1998-1999. Now I’m feeling pigtails again. I guess it’s a 20-ish year cycle for me.
One of the reasons I had to grow my hair longer was a desire to experiment with twists and buns and braids. But I promptly got stuck in a rut of the same updos on repeat. Today, I stepped out of my comfort zone and went for french-braided pigtails.

the little girl put on her dress,
tied her pigtails to look her best,
put on her new shoes,
and went off to school

I just turned 65 years of age. Most of my wonderings are behind me. But there are plenty of trails I have yet to walk. I have slowed a little, but not by much, still too much to see and do. Forest Trail at Pigtail, Triadelphia Reservoir, Howard County, Maryland.
Loved how this lady's hair sat like this at the 2019 Asylum Steampunk Festival in Lincoln over the August Bank Holiday. Probably all to do with finely placed wires, very effective though under that great hat and matching coat.
NS 8102 leads 205 down the last mile of the Belden Hill as they enter the northend of what was once the massive Bevier St Yard. The train will stop for a quick refuel before moving down to QD and will do a pickup before later recrewing and departing west for Chicago.

I am very happy with the way this turned out. It was around 80 degrees when I took these pictures the other day and now it is snowing!!! I am hoping for the warm weather again soon.
HAPPY EASTER!
I've shot with Taryn numerous times over the years. She recently took an extended break from shooting to get married and have a beautiful baby daughter. Now she's getting back into it and we're both happy about that. I've always had great chemistry with Taryn - she is so much fun to shoot with - and I think it shows.
We did this shoot on another gawd awful hot afternoon in Caldwell, Idaho in an underpass that at least provided shade. We both loved the shoot but it left us sweaty and exhausted. I took these photos in mid-August 2022.
