A couple of times a year during the winter a barge loaded with lumber arrives in Seward and is railed up to Anchorage for SBS, Spenard Builders Supply. ARR 4007 leads a train laden with lumber over the top of the 3% grade at Divide. In the far distance is Resurrection Bay

Piercing the Shadows

I know this is a bit of an unconventional "train" photo but I do hope some of you appreciate it.

One of the prettiest roads you might ever drive on is Winona Road the reaches through parts of Belknap and Grafton Counties in the great state of New Hampshire.

It is the scenic route between the communities of Meredith and Ashland and roughly parallels the old Concord and Montreal Railroad, later B&M's White Mountain Division Mainline. Now largely devoid of trains, these rails see no more than a dozen or two movements a year. But each fall for four weekends the Winnipesaukee Scenic runs foliage specials north from Meredith to Plymouth.

Here is one of those returning on a warm Sunday afternoon approaching the sunshine where the tracks cross over Winona Road on a narrow bridge at Milepost 41 (from Concord) on these lonely rails now owned by the state.

Pleasantly surprised by the power of the self-portrait on the top of my planned festive reading, looking forward to next year's big Renoir exhibitions...

During one of the last regular coal turns from Tower colliery to Aberthaw power station, an unidentified freightliner class 66 makes its way south past Devils Bridge at Trefforest, south Wales.

Unfortunately, the regular coal runs seem to have ceased with only occasional DBC trains being the last remaining freight traffic on this line.

I was listening to a webinar and decided to take some droplet photos.

Taken at St Aidens. It was a wonderful day Sunday, the sun shone all day and I was in it all day. You should be able to work out what's going on in this image..... :) You may have to rotate the laptop. It was great to meet you John, sorry for all the questions :)

Vultures are odd and weird looking creatures, but I always get fascinated by their appearance...

The characteristic bald head, devoid of feathers....Those piercing eyes....almost pretty! (grin)
