Recently when I was having a very difficult time functioning due to intense effects of trauma, I glanced into the next room and saw this view. [The picture in the frame is from the day my husband and I were married.] I was so fascinated and inspired by what I saw that somehow I managed to stand up, get my camera and tried to take a few pictures of this scene. Though it certainly didn’t erase my struggles I was thankful noticing this beautiful moment did help me to be able to stand up, move and make it through these incredibly challenging moments. A sign of continued growth, ongoing healing and moving forward.

The road to Boxworth yesterday, a small village nr Cambridge, UK. The white mist filtered the suns rays to such an extent that it looked more like the moon.

It's several years old but still one of my fave goofy Christmas shots of Lorne and I. Plus it seems to work well for this oldie sepia photograph look :-)
locatiion : Kyoto Hosen-in temple , Bankan-en Garden
( meaning difficult to leave, and also known as 'picture frame garden)
京都大原 宝泉院 額縁庭園’盤桓園’( 立ち去り難いという意)
Hosen - in Temple is located next to of the Shorin - in Temple, where the priest Honen Sho-nin had the famous religeous debate with Kenshin, chief magistrate of Ohara Temple. The library, rebuilt in 1502, is famous for its "chitenjo" (bloody ceiling) in the passageway, taken from Fushimi Castle. The famous garden contains a pine tree, more than 700 years old, in the shape of Mt. Oumifuji.
This beautiful framed garden invites the visitor into a world of comfort. Also, be sure to enjoy some powdered green tea while listening to the sound of the Suikinkutsu (Japanese water hollow harp garden feature). - Kyoto Prefecture
Second shot of my friend Madonna Hamel. Yesterday, in detailing some of the back story of how we both arrived in this tiny prairie village in the middle of nowhere, I mentioned that Madonna's mother was born here. We have returned to the now collapsed house several times to salvage boards that Mado uses to make frames for her collages. That's what is happening in this photo. I cant imagine a better way to honour her mother's memory, or her own distant roots.

The photo is of my father and his twin sister who actually had different birthdays as they were born either side of midnight. The lace was a naughty little purchase today, to add to my collection.
So, life is amazing. How could I have ever been unhappy with it?

My Uncle Jim, killed in action 28 August 1918, Hardecourt, Somme, France, aged 18. This portrait was painted by my father in about 1920 using a photo of himself and his brother, taken in Chatham, as a reference; the photo still has smudges of paint on it. He is wearing the cap badge of the Middlesex Regt but was transferred to the Royal Fusiliers when he was sent to France in the summer of 1918. My father has included the war and victory medal ribbons which were awarded posthumously. The frame was made by my grandfather.
There is a photo of his watch here.
