One of the altars in Old Town in celebration of Day of the Dead.. In this case, the altar has on display - personal, historical or other famous personalities, that have made an impact on the life of the one who choose to display the image. A sweet sadness of remembrance as in The Adagio for Strings...
#8 in my 100 x challenge - monochrome
Is this cheating? I converted it to mono when I first took it but wasn't sure so posted the original (barely) colour version. Today I decided to have another go at converting it and quite like it so am adding it to my 100. Does it look too bland? Original in comments.
Also for Monochrome Bokeh Thursday. HMBT
323/365: I thought I'd use my little vases that I bought in France, again today...because I couldn't think of anything else. How many days left...oh, that many, really?
This is one of a pair of brackets included to hang a framed picture. Turn each bracket 180 degrees, so longer bracket side is at the top corner on the back of each top corner of the frame. Attach with small screws that are provided. Viola! Now when you go to hang the picture onto two small nails that you have already put in the wall, you don't have to be so precise! The multiple hexagon HOLES allow for some adjustment to be sure the picture is level! I've used them and it works so well!
Size of each bracket is: w 2.25" h 1.25".
Theme: "Holes"
Thank you for taking the time to view my photo, and for the faves and comments you make, thank you.

Named the ‘Bon Ami Point Range Front’ lighthouse was constructed on Inch Arran Point in 1870. It was built to guide ship to safety at night.
Under the Federal Heritage Buildings Policy, the Bon Ami lighthouse became recognized as a Federal Heritage Building on September 5, 1991. To this day the lighthouse remains in operation and in clear weather, can be seen at a distance of 16 miles.
♥ Thank you very much for your visits, faves, and kind comments ♥
310/365: A bit of desperation here as the light was fading fast. My enthusiasm for the 365 is waning or my mojo is going...or maybe both. Either way I am struggling at the moment.

Denver Botanic Gardens currently has an indoor art exhibit called Blue Grass, Green Skies which celebrates American Impressionism and Realism. Also included are several large picture frames throughout the outdoor gardens to showcase individual flowers and landscapes. Lots of fun photo ops!
Some of my pink things with a cup of white rose tea, that is white tea with rosebuds. I love it when I can drink or eat my props when I've finished with them, it was a little on the cool side but still tasty and refreshing.

I'm getting as much use from my dahlias as I can. This is one of the Cafe au Lait casualties from all the rain and wind we've had..along with some vintage books and a vintage cup and saucer. In the vintage style frame is a photo of my mother as a girl.

I know it’s Monday and I shouldn’t really be playing but in my defence it is a public holiday here :)
This is another mangle of one of the oil droplet pictures from Saturday. I find they’re interesting as source material for patterns and textures, particularly the marbly oil mixtures ones. At least it makes up for my lack of competence at proper oil drop ones!
This is a mixture of Nik Silver Efex and Color Efex (with solarisation and a bicolour filter as the major players). I had a hunch that converting to monochrome would work with the marblely ones and it proved to be so, especially with split toning afterwards.
Thanks for pausing to look. I hope you like the image. Happy Monday!

Life is like a camera
Focus on what's important
Capture the good times
Develop from the negatives
And if things don't work out
Take another shot.
Dating from around the mid 1920's this was hubby’s grandfather's camera, also known as the soldiers camera it went through WW11 with him. It has now become a family heirloom and still seems to be in good working order.
Here's one way to use an old picture frame. Photograph it, give it a little tidy up in processing, and then use it to frame a garden scene. In this scene I have left the reds at normal saturation but desaturated the greens and yellows. The crabapple tree has sadly lost most of its lovely blossoms after the recent rains.
I haven't worn this pendant for years, but it's finding a new role now as a photo prop. I like it because it has a matte finish, so I don't keep seeing myself or my camera in it. Definitely a bonus. :)
For this week's Macro Mondays group theme, Gold or Silver. For scale, the pendant is about 1¼" across at its widest point.

Recently when I was having a very difficult time functioning due to intense effects of trauma, I glanced into the next room and saw this view. [The picture in the frame is from the day my husband and I were married.] I was so fascinated and inspired by what I saw that somehow I managed to stand up, get my camera and tried to take a few pictures of this scene. Though it certainly didn’t erase my struggles I was thankful noticing this beautiful moment did help me to be able to stand up, move and make it through these incredibly challenging moments. A sign of continued growth, ongoing healing and moving forward.

京都大原 宝泉院 額縁庭園’盤桓園’( 立ち去り難いという意)
Hosen - in Temple is located next to of the Shorin - in Temple, where the priest Honen Sho-nin had the famous religeous debate with Kenshin, chief magistrate of Ohara Temple. The library, rebuilt in 1502, is famous for its "chitenjo" (bloody ceiling) in the passageway, taken from Fushimi Castle. The famous garden contains a pine tree, more than 700 years old, in the shape of Mt. Oumifuji.
This beautiful framed garden invites the visitor into a world of comfort. Also, be sure to enjoy some powdered green tea while listening to the sound of the Suikinkutsu (Japanese water hollow harp garden feature). - Kyoto Prefecture
