I started back to school as soon as I researched what prerequisite courses were needed. Having been a double art major, you can imagine this took a while! I went to AB-Tech for three years at night studying Chemistry and Physics and even statistics. Meanwhile, I toured several Chiropractic schools to get a feel for where I wanted to go. Sherman College became my choice, it was just an hour away from Asheville, so I could keep some massage therapy work going. It’s also a small school and I knew I would get individual attention, which I would need for some of the science courses. I started attending Sherman in 1999 and finished in June of 2003.

Wayne State University Physician Assistant students had the incredible opportunity to partner with Special Olympics of Michigan and Special Olympics International on May 21, 2022, at Detroit Day School for the Deaf, by piloting a Pediatric Screening exam for local Detroit families.

These screenings were offered to children ages 2-7, with the goal of identifying early developmental delays and connecting families with needed local resources, equipment, and care.

WSU PA students had the opportunity to collaborate and learn early child development screening tools from Special Olympics Medical Directors who came from all over the US!

Thanks to Special Olympics Michigan for capturing these amazing photos!

Physician Assistant Recognition Dinner

I've been neglecting one of the fundamentals of survival - food. When I woke up this morning I got on the scales (which I rarely do), and was sad about what I saw.

It's not healthy to be a size 0. Not for me, at least. I want balance, and I've forced myself to eat everything on this plate.

The older I get the more antsy I become, and I need more than a cup of coffee and a plum to get me through the day.

Repeat after me: Everything will be o.k. Stop crying so damn much.
