ODC = Spirit of the age
Some time back my husband bought boxes of old model railroad "stuff" that was part of a collection from the 1940's. We know this because everything was wrapped in newspaper from 1945 & 1946 which in itself is pretty cool. Anyway I found this in the bottom of one of the boxes that had some train goodies in it. I will be honest and say I busted out laughing when I saw this I immediately thought HUH a condom comb? I had to read the entire ad several times because I was trying to figure out what the difference was in how the two were spelled and there is no difference....go figure! To me this lovely worn wrapper is from an age when quality really mattered and we bought items proudly made in the USA.

The FMA is located at the ATLAS » accelerator at Argonne National Laboratory. It is used to separate nuclear reaction products from the primary heavy ion beam and disperses them by mass/charge (M/q) at the focal plane.
The FMA features wide acceptances in particle energy and M/q, as well as high mass resolution. Magnetic and electric fields (up to 500 kV across a 10 cm gap) are used to guide the desired particles and focus them onto detectors at the focal plane. The FMA rotates about a pivot directly under the target position, although for most experiments it is postioned at 0 degrees to the beam direction.
A wide variety of experiments can be performed at the FMA. High-spin spectroscopy can be conducted by using an array of gamma-ray detectors around the target and tagging each event with the M/q of the recoil nucleus as determined at the focal plane. Both recoil-gamma and recoil-gamma-gamma coincidences have been measured in this way. In the past, FMA was used in conjunction with Argonne’s large arrays of germanium detectors, Gammasphere » and GRETINA ».

Key features have been labelled, and an approximate scale added. (Note that there is no universal nomenclature for the guitar anatomy. The soundboard is often called the 'top-plate', for example.)
The guitars featured in this set are made by the major UK luthier, Tanglewood.

The Rover 100 was introduced in 1960 as part of a shrinking P4 range, replacing both the Rover 90 and 105. It was powered by a more powerful 2.6 litre short-stroke version of the P5 3-Litre unit. And was capable of 100mph. The interior was luxurious, with wood and leather accents on traditional English car elements. like a curved Shepherds Crook handbrake lever. A bench front seat or individual front seats could be ordered. A heater was a standard fitting. Like the smaller 80 version, the 100 was fitted with servo-assisted Girling disc brakes at the front, keeping drum brakes at the rear. Overdrive, on top gear only, was a standard fitting.
Production ended in 1962..

Shot 30.05.2021. at Capesthorne Hall car show, Siddington Cheshire 145-299
None of the other bloggers I follow on Blogspot have put up a post this year as yet. And wondering whether I should. I mean I enjoy them, and love to reread old posts and shock myself with what I have forgotten. I am seriously thinking about stopping the Brexit posts, but then things will get really fraught this year, and will be a scary shitshow and at what I can scream on a daily basis: "I fucking told you so!"
What to do?
And then there is Norwich bloody City. After the no-show at Old Trafford, I really felt so let down by the players that I would just not bother with the rest of the season. And was quite resigned to this, until I got an e mail from Peter, my new work colleague, that his son's ticket at the Spurs v Norwich was free and would I fancy going along?
I thought about it for ages, and said I would be interested, and by that time the offer was now firm, and the ticket would in fact be free, and he would take me up, if I could get to Broadstairs, and it turned out, would return me in his car to my front door.
An offer too good to refuse.
Apparently.
The day started off badly with the alarm failing to go off. So, I laid in bed waiting for it, only for it to not sound. What time does the alarm go off, I asked Jools?
Six.
Its twenty five past now I said.
Bugger.
So, she scrambled around to get ready, and I stayed out of the way, as running interference is one of my key skills, apparently. Meaning that by the time she left it was twenty past seven, and too late for phys before work.
I'll make it up tomorrow I said, not believing it myself.
I have breakfast whilst checking my inbox: one mail to deal with, and then on with more reviewing.
I cook a decent lunch for myself, as I wasn't sure what the plan was for when we got to that London. Some more work and then, time to go.
All I had to do was walk to the top of the down, along Station Road, down the other side, over the Deal road and on to the station.
With my back. I mean, I couldn't leave it behind, but it has been screaming lately.
And as soon as I turned onto Station Road to climb to the top, my back began to ache.
It got worse.
But once at the top, it would be OK for a while.
But then there is other problems; the fact the road has no pavement and steep banks on each side, so the pedestrian would have to hope he is seen in time and cars, trucks and tractors drive round us, not through us.
Wednesday was dull and grey, and I was wearing my warm coat, coloured black, as it is January and would be outside for several hours later. So I was hard to spot, and when I could I got out of the road when a car came.
I reached the Deal road safe and sound. This was the hard part, traffic going 50mph and a staggered junction, and I would have to find a gap to scamper across. After a couple of minutes, I do get across, and was now over halfway to the station. From there is was downhill for a bit, then a slight rise into the village.
I do make it, but I needed to sit on the low back to reset my back, which helped. But I am puffing well when I got to the station with ten minutes to spare. I resolve to go to the back bender for a stretching session as soon as I can.
But I was at the station, I buy ticket and go down through the subway to the other platform and wait outside to cool down and get my breath back.
The train pulls in and I find an acceptable seat. I am choosy, I know. And settle down to enjoy the 35 minute run up through Deal, Sandwich, Ramsgate to Broadstairs, where, if things worked out, Pete would be waiting.
He was, but I was on one side of the station and he was on the other side. A quick phone lead to him driving round to collect me. I climb into his Audi, all 362 horsepoers growing from the back box, still sounding like a bucket of angry hornets. And that was at rest.
And all the way up to London there was the constant background roar of the exhaust and the popping of unignited fuel escaping. He put on a UK Subs album to help drown out the engine noise, and conversation.
But we do talk, and drive north as darkness fell, and a mist rose, making driving difficult. But he presses on, staying in the fast lane up to Dartford, inching forward through the tunnel then onto the A13 into the East End.
Driving is never fun, but on a dark and misty night, driving into London in heavy traffic is anything but, but with him and his son, driving in is half as cheap as the train, so is a no brainer.
Once near to Tottenham, the traffic inches along, before turning away from the ground to park in a muslti-story car park some 20 minute brisk walk from the ground. Or a half hour fast walk for me.
It is flat, so my back is fine as long as keep the pace sensible. Pete is understanding, but pushes the envelope.
Halfway to the ground, we stop at a kebab shop for a sober kebab. Skewered chicken, salad and rice all round.
And it was very good indeed, and half healthy.
Out of the shop and to the ground, past the rows of shops, barbers, betting shops and "fun" pubs. And everywhere there is rubbish and trash piled up. I could not live in a city, and certainly not this city. Nice to visit, for short periods.
Spurs have a new ground that towers over the surrounding streets and looks like a UFO crashlanded, all lit up like a kid's birthday cake. It is impressive, and is state of (stadium) art. But is out of place.
We walk round to the first checkpoint, up steps to the next checkpoint, then to the turnstiles and into the ground, where I find the whole area under the raked stands is one large money making scheme: bars, fast food joints and bars. Lots of bars.
And it was packed, people lined up a dozen deep to pay for quid for a pint of fizzy lager in a plastic glass. Instead we go up to our seats. Their seats are in "the wall", the largest end stand in all of Europe. We walk to the row half way up, then along to their seats, almost in the middle of the goal, with wonderful views of the pitch, which glowed under the floodlights.
Then began the pre-match build up: flashing lights, bright flashing videos on the four huge screens and bombastic commentary over the top.
All for Spurs v Norwich. Which was, let us not forget, a sell-out.
The teams come out, we stand and applaud. All I had to do now was not to show I was a Norwich supporter in the middle of the avid Spurs section, and hoping I could hide that fact in the unlikely event Norwich actually scored.
It was a poor match, neither side could pass the ball. And both were shot shy, when the goal was in sight, both missed.
There was little to choose between the teams, but just before half time, City lost possession, one pass and a cross, and Dele had a tap in after stealing between two defenders.
I want to hold my head in my hands, but instead stand up with the other 50,000 Spurs fans and clap.
In the second half, it is even stuff, Norwich play better, and just when it seems it would come to nothing, we get a penalty.
After waiting 5 minutes for VAR to rule on it, Pukki lined it up, ran and struck it into the corner, just out of Lloris' grasp.
I sat on my hands, and smiled.
Pete looked at me for a reaction.
I smiled some more.
Ten minutes later, a ball going nowhere near the goal was deflected and looped into the far corner of the Norwich goal, just out of Kruul's grasp.
Done and dusted.
Football is cruel.
We really did not deserve that. Honestly. And Spurs did not deserve to win. But they did win.
We leave our seats and are down in the concourse in a couple of minutes, go to the bar for a beer to wait while the crowds dispersed, but there were thousands around us doing the same thing.
At ten, we leave and walk to the car, the evening not cold at all, and me with an extra layer of clothes on, sweating for England.
We get to the car, pay the ticket and drive out along the North Circular to the A13, then to Dartford and back into Kent.
We have the Stranglers as our soundtrack, as Pete puts the horses to use. He shows me how well the car can use them as he accelerates the car to 120mph. I am thrown back into the seat, and am impressed.
The Stranglers play on.
He deposits be at the end of our street at five past midnight.
I say thanks, and he says thanks for the three points.
Back indoors I have a bottle of tripel and some crackers and cheese.
Again, apart from the result, the day was brilliant.
8 orders incoming, will still have to make a few more, fuck paying current exorbitant BL prices for 1x2 L. Grey curved slopes.
G-PHYS - Avtech Jabiru SP-470 - PFA 274B-13926 - Private - Newtownards Airfield - Sunday - 27-10-2019
Days seem to fall into two categories: either phys or non-phys days.
Wednesday was a non-phys day, so it meant that I could lay in bed.
My brain did wake me up at just before five. I heard Jools get up to feed the cats, but I went back to sleep, laying in to nearly seven, fraught with odd dreams.
Jools had a class, and I would go with her so I could go and try to get a hair cut.
We had coffee and breakfast, before we left home just before eight, parking on a side street near where the old Rack of Ale used to be.
Dover is a typical provincial town, with a historic High Street and commercial centre. But due to decisions made by local councils, the commercial centre has moved to either Whitfield or the new St James Centre.
Meaning that what is left on Biggin and London Streets are left fighting over the remaining crumbs.
Half eight on a working morning, the town should be waking up and people come to open shops. But what there was, was mostly abandoned shops, and those open were either vape shops, nail salons or European corner shops.
There are four of five barbers, mostly run by eastern European or Turks, but the one I favour failed to open, so went to the next that opened.
We parked on Park Street, and after a minute or two, I walked down the side of the River Dour, a major chalk stream, through the town to near the bus station, before cutting through to Biggin Street and the place where the barbers are grouped.
Above, the sun rose into a clear blue sky, looking warmer than the two degrees it was. Meaning it was no time to linger and watch.
I go into the barbers and am shown into a chair, then wait ten minutes after being dressed in a sheet by an assistant, then wait for the artist himself to arrive.
He did arrive and began to do his stuff, but then another arrived, and piece by piece reclaimed his scissors and clippers from the desk in front of where I was being trimmed.
I have no idea if this happened every day, but it was very awkward and was happy that once shorn, I could pay and escape.
Jools was done with her class, so we arranged to meet back at the car before driving up through town s we could call in at Tesco for some supplies, and then head home.
Lunch was bacon and sausage butties, perchance a tad too much for a lunchtime snack. So it was that come supper time we were still not hungry.
Then it was time for the first meet of the year for the churchcrawling group.
To make things easier for me, I chose a church under the cre of the CCT which knew would be open, so no need to liase with a keyholder or warden. That church was St Mary at Capel-le-Ferne, one I havenot been back to for about five years.
No one to pick up this time, so a short drive through town and onto the A20, turning off at Capel, then once in the village turning off down hapel Lane, back into the high downland that lies between Dover and Folkestone, away from the coast.
Light was flat, and the subdued hues suited the month. At the church, there was parking now suggested on the access road to the farm, then walk up the muddy track to the church. I slithered up to check that the church was open. It was, and so disturbed two workment who were digging two new graves.
In ten minutes the group arrived, four of them, so I lead them back to the church, and inside, where the stone walls had done nothing to keep any heat in, so was like standing in a fridge.
I showed them the triple-arched chancel wall, unique in Kent, and the reason for the visit.
We talked about the isolated site, and why the village centre is now a mile away near the coast.
And that was it.
So to drive home before the light faded totally, and before the school run really began.
We watched more archology through the afternoon, and by the time that ended, darkness had fallen and it was time to wait on the cats as dinner time approached.
Turns out we were not hungry after all, so made do with a handful of peanuts and a beer or two before the evening of more League Cup football between Chelsea and Arsenal, which was pretty good entertainment, and the visitors winning 3-2.

Standing in a windswept setting at the confluence of many footpaths, St Mary's church was long ago abandoned in favour of a modern church more centrally located to the straggling village outside Folkestone. The church is of Norman origins, but its present character dates from the late thirteenth/early fourteenth century. Its outstanding feature is a triple-arched chancel screen with an arched opening above in which once stood the Rood. This was not the rood screen in itself, for the capitals of the triple arcade cut to take the more conventional wooden screen. It has recently been argued that a western window originally threw light onto the rood figures prior to the construction of the present tower. To the north of the screen is a fine window, higher than others in the church, which may well have served the same purpose following the addition of the tower in the fourteenth century. For a small church, St Mary's contains two very good nineteenth century stained glass windows, and a notable mural tablet with military insignia. The church is in the care of The Churches Conservation Trust. Keyholder nearby West tower, nave, chancel, south porch.

-------------------------------------------------
LIES the next parish south-eastward from Alkham, but within the hundred of Folkestone, taking its name from its having ever been esteemed a chapel, capella, to the church of Alkham. It is likewise called Capell le Ferne, and Capell by Folkestone, to distinguish it from another parish of the same name, near Tunbridge.
CAPELL lies upon the hills between Dover and Folkestone, but the situation of it is much less subject to them than the adjoining parishes above-described, especially about the church, which stands in the center of it, near which the fields are of a more even surface than is usual in this part of the county, and the lands are much more fertile, and of a higher rent. In this parish I first saw the shocks of wheat, whilst in the field, all covered in bad weather with bass matting, to secure them from the wet; which, I am informed, is a usual custom in this neighbourhood, though not much approved of by the most intelligent farmers in it. At a small distance southwest from the church is an estate, called Capell-sole farm, from a large pond close to it, belonging to Hughes Minet, esq. and now inhabited by Captain Ridley, of Dover. There is no village in it, the houses being dispersed singly throughout it. The high road from Folkestone to Dover goes over the high chalk cliffs, along the southern part of this parish, where the lands are open uninclosed downs, and are bounded by the above-mentioned cliffs on the sea shore. This part of the parish is part of the possessions of the archbishop of Canterbury, and within the liberty of the town of Folkestone. There is no fair held in the parish.
THE MANOR OF CAPELL, called likewise the manor of St. Mary le Merge, was antiently part of the possessions of Nigell de Muneville, whose descendant William de Muneville leaving an only daughter and heir, she carried it in marriage to William de Albrincis, or Averenches, whose son, of the sams name, leaving likewise an only daughter and heir Matilda, she entitled her husband Hamo de Crevequer to it. He left four daughters, of whom Elene, married to Bertram de Crioll, on the partition of their inheritance, entitled her husband to this manor, and he died possessed of it in the 23d year of Edward I. leaving two sons John and Bertram, who both died s.p. and a daughter Joane, who upon the death of the latter became his heir, and carried this manor, among the rest of her inheritance, in marriage to Sir Richard de Rokesle, whose eldest daughter and coheir Agnes entitled her husband Thomas de Poynings to the possession of it; in whose descendants it continued down to Sir Edward Poynings, of Westenhanger, (fn. 1) governor of Dover castle and lord warden, who in the 12th year of king Henry the VIII.th's reign gave it in marriage with Mary, one of his natural daughters, to Thomas Fynes, lord Clinton and Saye, to whom this manor was confirmed in the 30th year of it. His son Edward, lord Clinton and Saye, in the reign of queen Mary, passed it away by sale to Mr. Henry Herdson; after which it continued in like manner as Folkestone, and his other estates in this neighbourhood, till the death of Sir Basill Dixwell, bart. of Brome, about the latter end of king Charles II.'s reign; soon after which Oliver Wright and others, under the direction of the court of chancery, in 1691, conveyed it to William Young, who pulled down the antient mansion of this manor, and built the present court-lodge of it. At his death he devised it to his son Nicholas young, who died unmarried; upon which it came to his sister Elizabeth, who had married first Henry Hughes, esq. by whom she had a daughter, married to the Rev. John Minet, of Eythorne; and 2dly, Wm. Veal, esq. of Dover; and on her death, by the entail of her father's will, it came to her son by her second husband, Young Veal, who by recovery in 1744, barred the future remainders. After his death it was sold in 1753, under a decree of chancery, to William Minet, esq. of London, who died possessed of it in 1767, and by will devised this manor, with Church and Capell-sole farms, and other lands belonging to it, to his nephew Hughes Minet, esq. of London, who is now the owner of them. (fn. 2) This manor is subject to a castle-guard rent to Dover castle.
CALDHAM, now usually called Coldham, from its cold and exposed situation, is a manor in the south-east part of this parish, which appears by records to have been antiently the patrimony of owners of the same name, who bore for their arms, Gules, a fess, ermine, between three martlets, argent; but before the reign of king Richard II. they had passed it away to Baker, a family of good account in this part of the county, having a peculiar chancel belonging to them in Folkestone church, who resided at it; and in this name it continued down to John Baker, of Caldham, who was gentleman porter of Calais in the reigns of Henry V. and VI. and bore for his arms, Argent, on a fess, nebulee, sable, a tower, triple-towered, of the first, between three keys of the second; perhaps in allusion to his office. He died without male issue in the 17th year of the latter reign, holding this manor in capite, and leaving five daughters his coheirs; and upon the division of their inheritance, Robert Brandred, in right of Joan his wife, the fourth daughter, became entitled to it; and their son Robert, about the latter end of king Henry VI. passed it away to Sir Thomas Browne, of Beechworth castle, whose descendant, Sir Anthony Browne, in the 33d year of king Henry VIII. exchanged it for other premises with that prince, who in his 36th year, granted it to William Wilsford, and others, citizens of London, to hold in capite; and they, in the 37th year of it, alienated it to John Tuston, esq. of Hothfield, whose grandson Sir Nicholas Tuston, knight and baronet, was by king Charles I. created Baron of Tuston and Earl of Thanet, in whose descendants it has continued down to the right hon. Sackville, earl of Thanet, the present owner of it.
¶SOTMERE is a manor, in the eastern part of this parish, which seems to have been once part of the possessions of the neighbouring abbey of St. Radigund, and after the dissolution of it in the 27th year of Henry VIII. to have been granted by the king, among the rest of the possessions of it, in his 29th year, to the archbishop Cranmer, who the year afterwards exchanged the scite of St. Radigund's, with almost all the rest of the estates of it, again with the king. After which, this manor being granted from the crown, passed at length into the family of Gibbs, originally of Devonshire, who settled first at Combe, in Hawking, and went from thence to Elmestone. Several of them lie buried in this church, and there is now in the chancel, a gravestone, with the figures of a man and woman in brass, with an inscription for John Gybbes and Mary his wyff, anno 1526. There is one shield of arms remaining, of four coats, first and fourth, two mascles in fess; second and third, two roses in like fess. From this name, after some intermediate owners, it was sold to Spencer, in which name it seems to have been about the time of the restoration of king Charles II. at length Alban Spencer, gent. who resided here, leaving three daughters his coheirs, Sarah, married to Mr. Richard Halford; Susannah, to Mr. R. Buck; and Mary, to Mr. Robert Gunsley Ayerst, clerk, they jointly succeeded to this manor. Mr. Richard Halford died possessed of his third part in 1766, and left it to his only son Richard, who sold it to Mr. Robert Finnis, of Dover, the present possessor of it. Mr. Robert Buck, on his death without issue, devised his third part to his niece Jane Ayerst; and her father, the Rev. Mr. Ayerst, in right of his wife, is the present owner of the remaining third part of it.
There has not been any court held for this manor for a great number of years past, though there were antient persons within these few years who remember its having been held.
The archbishop of Canterbury is entitled to lands in this parish, and within the liberty of the town of Folkestone, lying adjoining to the lands of Sotmere, and between them and the sea shore, called Abbots, alias Cliffe lands, as having once belonged to the abbey of St. Radigund's, which have been for many years held in lease by the owners of Sotmere manor.
There are no parochial charities. The poor constantly relieved are about eighteen, casually sixteen.
CAPELL is within the ECCLESIASTICAL JURISDICTION of the diocese of Canterbury, and deanry of Dover.
The church, which is dedicated to St. Mary, consists of one isle and one chancel, having a low square tower at the west end.
This church was always esteemed as a chapel to the church of Alkham, and was given with it, by the name of the chapel of Mauregge, by Hamo de Crevequer, to the abbot and convent of St. Radigund, together with the advowson, to hold in free, pure and perpetual alms. After the dissolution of the monasteries in king Henry the VIIIth.'s reign, this chapel, with the church of Alkham, passed together, in manner as has been already related under that parish, in exchange to the archbishop of Canterbury and his successors, in which state it remains at this time, his grace the archbishop being the present patron of the vicarage of Alkham, with the chapel of Capell le Ferne, alias St. Mary le Merge, belonging to it.
It is not valued separately in the king's books, being included in the valuation of the vicarage of Alkham.
The great tithes of Sotmere and Capell wards, in this parish, (formerly part of the possessions of St. Radigund's), are held by lease for three lives, of the archbishop.
The lessee of the parsonage of Folkestone claims, as such, a certain portion of the great tithes of this parish.
Amazing printing job. The printing feels like it has dimension to it. When you rub your finger across it, you can feel the printing. It also makes the minifigure seem more realistic.
Eastern Meadowlark (Sturnella magna) - The road to Royal Palm (Anhinga Trail), Everglades National Park, Florida
Hold everything!
Stop the car!
We spotted this guy along the road on the way to the Anhinga Trail, did a quick "U"ie, and parked on the other side of the road where I was snappin' off pictures of this guy with my tele resting on the window sill. That is until another car stopped in the middle of the road (between me and the Meadowlark) to ask what I was taking pictures of.
Needless to say when he pulled away, the lark was gone.
Is there any hope for the human race?
Sometimes I wonder . . .

MANUFACTURER: Mattel
DOLLS IN LINE: Frankie; Lagoona; Ghoulia
IMPORTANT NOTES: There was a simplified version of Ghoulia who was packaged without a locker or booklet.
PERSONAL FUN FACT: I'm really glad that this particular Ghoulia doll came with a spare outfit. After all, what would my second hand Ghoulia have worn?! It's too bad that there aren't two pairs of shoes included. But extra clothes are always appreciated at my household. In fact, I'm notorious for wanting to buy dolls JUST for their spare ensembles (as a largely secondhand collector, any sort of fashions are considered gold to me). All of the stuff that came with this doll is such awesome quality, I really cannot complain about there being only one pair of shoes for both of these outfits. I was really shocked when I went to undress my first Ghoulia doll, and I realized that she had two pairs of shorts on. Her gym shorts are actually separate from her red biking shorts. I think that this makes her outfit even more versatile than it already was. I'm surprised that she was able to wear to pairs of shorts at once. Given how slender Monster High dolls from this era are, you'd think that her bottom half would look bulky with several layers on. Ghoulia also comes with two pairs of glasses--regular ones and goggle ones (to protect her eyes when she is playing gym). I really cannot believe that Mattel actually gave Miss Ghoulia special glasses for her Phys. Ed. Class...kudos to them!!! This is my only locker from the "Classroom" collection. My Frankie and Lagoona dolls were from the later "Black Friday" wave, which was packaged without the lockers. It's so much fun having this one--it even has a removable lock!

Before lunch, we went out for a walk, mainly for the phys if nothing else. But was surprised to find the ground really quite firm underfoot, so we went all the way up to Windy Ridge.
By now the tracks and paths should be rivers of mud and really not worth trying to get down, but all bar the usual places have now dried out and are firm ground rather than mud.
The wood itself is usually ankle deep in mud, the wider track was muddy, but passable if you wanted, but the other one was really quite dry.
I got back without getting mud on my trousers, which is quite unusual I believe..
I am armed with just the compact camera, and Jools is armed with a plastic bag and a litter picker tool-thing.
As there is quite a bit of litter, I go ahead, and am soon down the lane at the end of our road, over the fields, past the two Shetland ponies that were clearly hungry. I ask several folks on horses if they knew who owned the ponies, none did.
Then past the former butterfly glade, Fleet House and the pig's copse, down the slope past the farm, where the ground even there was firm underfoot.
Really, for January, this is very unusual. I seem to remember there being a winter drought a few years ago, and that lead to water shortages very quickly in the spring.
Up the long slope towards the wood, stopping at the hidden bench with its views down to Kingsdown. And in ten minutes Jools joins me, so we chat and admire the view.
The wood is passable, just about, so I pick my way through the drying mud, noticing the huge amount of Spurge Laurel growing in one place, and on holly trees I see proof that the plant only produces spiked edged leaves once leaves had been eaten or picked, as one plant had not only spiked and smooth edged leaves, but ones between the two.
Nature is wonderful.
I reach the end of the wood, and head off down towards Collingwood, horses on both side look at us hoping for some food other than the short grass in their fields and endless bales of hay.
We can't help.
