During World War II, the prison was occupied by the Japanese and most of its buildings were damaged by bombing. The prison was re-opened for use in 1946 after restoration. When Hong Kong was later declared a port of first asylum for Vietnamese refugees, Victoria Prison became a transit and repatriation centre. It was subsequently developed into an institution with modern management facilities for accommodating discharged inmates of both sexes prior to repatriation or deportation. The prison buildings were declared monuments on 8 September 1995, together with the adjacent former Central Police Station and the former Central Magistracy. It was officially decommissioned on 12 March 2006. It is currently under renovation and will be reopened as the Tai Kwun Centre for Heritage and art.

According to the Chronicle, there were three people arrested for Public Intoxication. During my 4 hours with the race crowd, particularly the last two, there was clearly lots of drinking going down and quite a few who were obviously drunk. Public Intoxication in the police's mind was clearly falling down drunk, as this unfortunate soul found herself

Just really like the silhouettes of the children playing in the bay.

5th February 2013, this date will be pronunced on the lip of every Bangladeshi people till their last breath. In this date people from every status of Bangladesh aggregated for the execution of war criminals of 1971 liberation war, prohibiting the organization of war criminals and also for building a conscious Bangladesh with the independent mind. Instantaneously the whole Shahbag was floated with the song and the moto of their protest. With the grievance all the Bangladeshi people made Shahbag as their bastion to let the world know about their existence and patriotism. The infrangible participation of the youth generation racked up the whole world. After that Shahbag renamed as Projonmo Chattar and this protest named as Shahbag Protest. In this Shahbag Protest some rebel young people formed a group named Shaheed Rumi Squad where there main goal is for the proper judgement of war criminals too.

Lots of days have been passed, people are waiting for the execution of the war criminals which have been their dream for last 42 years. But none of their demand have been taken care.Even their is hardly any verdict, those have done are hanged for the conclusion. Right after the 5th month of Shahbag Protest, 5th July 2013 Shahbag aggregated again right at 4pm. By the pain caused by the improper judgment procedure of war criminals they have roped their hands and eyes with black lays to stand again. Their only goal is the execution of war criminals of 1971 liberation war and prohibiting the organization of war criminals, specially the activities of Jamat-Shibir.

As far Shaheed Rumi Squad’s information this initiative was 100% independent. It’s not only their own initiative. Before coming in Shahbag they were aggregated with Tarunno Squad(Chittagong), Jatio Sharthe Blogger Online Activist, Jahanara Imam Squad, Amra, Dhabi Shikharthi Odhikar Moncho, Rasta, Ghasher Kella, Shongskritir Noya Shetu, Muviana, Shomogeet, Biplobider Kotha, Jagoruk Gonopathagar, Sultanar Shopno, Tirondaz, Shaheed Rafique Sriti Pathagar (Manikgonj) and Desh Mrittika.Apart from that there were participation of people from other professions and organizations and students also.

My Anti Austerity March images from June 20th.

I wanted to make my images as truthful as possible, I kept myself in the dark concerning the multiple motives people had to march and I did my best to make sure my work was just a document not a projection. As photographers it is impossible for us to show the truth, how we use the camera decides the message we want to show. In attempting to stop myself from creating an opinion I felt I shot with an open mind, allowing an undisturbed view of the days demonstration of expression. Around midday my lack of opinion was forcefully changed as I saw a young girl no older than ten flaunting an expletive banner with no clear link or message relating to the march. This created an impression on me and made me feel as if most were only there for the thrill, thus diluting the strong and purposeful messages many were displaying. I did not want to let what I saw change my attempted unbiased view, but this did.

"Exploring The Myth of Shangri-La"

West China : Day 6

Spent the night with nomadic family

We were spent the night with a nomadic family at an altitude approximately 4000 meters asl.

we've got a white tent without a stove heated, and the night was very cold, so all my fingers and even my face felt like numb. Couldn't slept, then i tried to shot the stars trail but failed because my camera ran out of battery. it was very frustrated night :(

I was cutting through this alley from the Mid-Town parking lot to get to the T-Mobile store, when I spied this beautiful blue plastic bottle. Now I should say that if you look at the end of this alley it ends at the 1/2 block long, Chicago-Lake Liquor store. I suppose a better composition would have been the bottle with the liquor store in the background, however, given the venue, I wasn't about to lie on my belly for the shot. Must confess, I am not that intrepid a photographer. 😊

You will note that it is the proper size for sharing a few bumps with friends. I've cut through this alley many times when various "meetings " were being held and beverages were handed around, or a whiff of a burning "herb" assailed my nostrils.

Now I have never heard of Pinnacle Vodka until quite recently when I've seen ads for it. I think it is quite attractive packaging for this is the first time I have seen the bottle in color. Very distinctive sure to attract the discriminating connoisseur of spirits.
