I came up with the idea of a 'Saturday with...' themed engagement session with Phil and Sara. I am so fortunate that they went with the idea!

We first went to the farmers market, headed to the Starbucks where they usually hang out, and then the park where they like to throw frisbee.

It was so much fun! Thanks, Phil and Sara!

CCMC is a free improvisational band that has been reinventing itself, with shifting constellations and consistent questing spirit, throughout four decades. For the last eighteen years, CCMC has been the trio of MICHAEL SNOW (piano and synthesizer), JOHN OSWALD (alto sax), and PAUL DUTTON (sound-singing and harmonica), who carry on the iconoclastic practice of the original CCMC formed in 1975 by Snow and four others. The music of Snow, Oswald, and Dutton features individual virtuosity and collective creativity in the spontaneous invention of shifting tapestries of texture and timbre, with process taking precedence and form evolving organically. The trio has toured through eastern Canada, the US, and western Europe, in addition to playing often in Toronto, where they are based.

CCMC will be joined by UK singer Phil Minton for this one-time performance.

An unparalleled free improviser, PHIL MINTON has shone in jazz (Mike Westbrook Band), rock-in-opposition (News from Babel, Roof), and avant-garde cabaret (his duo with Veryan Weston). He has pioneered many extended techniques for voice, and he stands as one of the world’s most original vocalists.

'kay i know this is a bit of a cheat...obviously a tv capture, and not a very good one at that. i had picked up this DVD of the making of Face Value, the first solo album from one of my all time favorite artists; Mister Phil Collins. i got it awhile ago at some second hand DVD store for about $3. what a score. very candid, honest, forthcoming, humble description of where and how the songs materialized from. it includes a lot of music cuts with scenes from concerts and studio. a few of the fellow artists as well as his former bandmates from Genesis also tell of their recollections of the time spent with Collins. entertaining, and enlightening. decided to give it another view tonight. just happened to have my camera out from taking the next shot on my stream and was playing around snapping some shots of the tv. as raw as this is i think it so captures the essence of the the man they call Phil.
