This is Phil Collins who was nominated for a turner prize last year.

He was a friend of mine around 1988/89 and I was rather obsessed with him. He introduced me to Bobby Darin and as you can see he had lovely hair. I only found out he was an artist last week when I saw one of his films at the cinema. If anyone knows him send him my love.

Phil Cooley is the quintessential Detroit co-creator (along with Claire Nelson!). From his restaurant, Slow' s Bar B Q, to his many, many community projects, Phil seems to be everywhere. And he makes a difference not only with his words but with his presence. He is the type of champion that shows up with a tool belt or a fork lift and rolls up his sleeves to work.
