Phillips Brooks was the author of 'O Little Town of Bethlehem' and the Rector of Trinity Church, Boston, before becoming Bishop of Massachusetts. He was a famous preacher, who wrote the book 'Lectures on Preaching' with the renowned observation that 'Preaching is truth through personality.'
In addition to the statue outside Trinity Church, this bust can be found inside in a side chapel.
Boston in November 2013
While in Oakridge, Oregon, I visited a Society of Three Speeds member and his lovely Phillips roadster. It is actually TWO frames welded together! He had a 21" and 22" frame and chopped and welded them together to get a larger 25" frame. He pointed to where the tubes were welded together but I couldn't tell. The parts were cobbled together from the two bikes plus some other ones.

I really like this picture of my brother. I was debating posting it because of how much I hate pictures of me. My family and I think he secretly works for the government and if he ever told us what he did he'd have to kill us. He's a good guy and he's really funny and I think this shows it all.
He was jagging around right before this was taken trying to flip me off. I am actually pretty glad I didn't get one with his fingers up.

I decided that I was ready for the responsibility of a pet this year. I was not a big animal fan until I met my sister's Pomeranian. Even then, I didn't really want anything to do with animals. I decided that I would like a Pom. My sister found one at the Humane Society, but by the time we got there, he had already been adopted. We knew that another dog would come along that would be right for me, so we kept looking. A week later, my sister saw a shih tzu at the Humane Society and told me about him. At first, I was not overly enthused, but I decided to go meet him. I fell in love with him when I saw him. The Humane Society let me meet him and I was hooked. I started the adoption process. What I didn't know was that my mom came to meet the dog and decided to surprise me by bringing him home.
I had been in class all day and was exhausted by the time I got home. When I got home, I found my parents with the very dog that I fell in love with. I was so excited!! it was so surreal. Phillip was now mine!
Right away, I put my school bag down and picked up Phillip. Phillip was adopted just days before my birthday and I can't think of a present that I would rather have. Phillip is the cutest, sweetest, most lovable little dog! He is a white shih tzu with black spots. Phillip follows me all around the house. He wits for me on the couch when I have to leave.
I am so happy that I decided to go meet Phillip at the Humane Society and I am so glad that I got him! Phillip brings me such great joy! I love having him. Phillip was the best birthday present that I have gotten.
