Pelavin Gallery is proud to announce a solo exhibition of recent work by American artist, Kate Beck. This show will include large scale poured oil paintings and graphite drawings on aluminum panel. This will be Beck’s first solo exhibition at the gallery, and in New York City.
In this new body of work, Beck continues her engagement with repetitive tonal rendering as a means of interaction between light and shadow, human thought and consciousness, and the dynamic architectonics of space. This time she takes the essence of form further by using aluminum substrates, allowing modulating marks of graphite and poured oil to accumulate and shift amidst the confines of the geometric shapes. Tension oscillates between formalistic geometry and existential space; an allusion to thought and consciousness, and the passage of time.

On Friday, PG&E replaced a transformer on our street. This presented an opportunity to see the work.

Hazardous tree removal wouldn't be possible without cooperation with many partners. PG&E has taken an active role in felling beetle-killed trees threatening power lines. As of Summer 2016, PG&E is now also removing the slash and downed trees from each site to reduce leftover flammable fuels.

DCR 56's 56311/56301 collecting 56038 from Kingsbury EMR scrap yard for over haul to mainline use. 56032 should have been collected as well, but was causing movement problems so had to be left on this day. To get to the class 56's former GIF 37's 37880/37884 had to be shunted out and back into Kingsbury EMR scrap metal merchants. Here being shunted back into Kingsbury EMR sidings. Wednesday 16th January 2013
This collection of 42 "pages" illustrates a trip my wife and I took to Morela and Patzcuaro, in the state of Michoacan, Mexico. These images are the layout of a book that I made of this trip. These images are best viewed as a slide show; unfortunately, the "double page spreads" such as pp. 12-13 cannot be properly set side by side.
