Some let these words fall to the ground not taking any note
Of the truth so salient, proved seven times by fire
Forgetful hearers neglect them, the doers are the triers.
Before the judge and jury the cloud of witness rise
Without persistence of vision the matter’s set aside.
The blind discern nothing, nor glean a glimpse of light
Without persistence of vision one travels in the night
Unsteady set to tumble, wavering set to fall
Pitched ready to perish, pleading ignorant to all.
Those with seeing eyes who discern the bad from good
Likewise too might perish not reckoning as they should
Measuring themselves by themselves, the standard of their land

The race’s not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong,
