If you got a kick out of my Relativity-related photo earlier (check my photos) and are enjoying this photo, please do take a moment to donate to Primtures. Every linden counts!
Donation location is at slurl.com/secondlife/Primtings/120/74/30 --even if you're throwing in one linden, you're perpetuating their terrific stuff.
Oh, and as it may amuse, the original painting that inspired this primting is at www.imageof.net/wallpaper/The-Persistence-of-Memory-Salva...
Persistence, a nine-paneled work of stained glass that marks the entrance to the meditation room of Hopkins' Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Building. With Persistence, Martha Hanson created the effect of an eternally crashing ocean wave. Her goal: to convey feelings of endurance and tenacity -- something I feel all cancer patients need to survive. Martha Hanson is a friend who resides in and has her studio in Edgewood, Maryland [April 2002]

There really had to be the nuclear emergency in Japan to realize the danger related to (fission) nuclear energy production?

"Make a photograph today that has a strongly centered composition."
My child, who hates having his photo taken, kept on jumping into shots today with silly faces. Finally I gave in.
This year, 2026 is the centenary of the formation of Zeiss Ikon, a major player in European camera manufacture in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of the 20th century.
To mark this anniversary, I've decided to use a different Zeiss Ikon camera every two weeks throughout the year, a project I'm calling “Twenty-six in Twenty-six”.
The Contax I appeared in 1932, and was followed by the Contax II in 1936. Production was halted by the war, but in the West was restarted in 1950, with an improved and more reliable version known as the Contax IIa. As the system was aimed at the professional market a good range of lenses was available including several 50mm standard lenses. Mine has the f1.5 Sonnar, which is an impressive looking piece of glass, though in a non reflex camera the advantages of the very wide aperture are tempered by the difficulty in getting exact focus with a rangefinder.

“Dripping water hollows out stone, not through force but through persistence.”

This bent tree just keeps on growing as best it can despite the trepidations of wind, rain, snow etc.
This reminds me of a story a a ant who tried climbing a tree, but kept falling. It tried climbing a 100 times, yet it kept failing, but nothing stopped the ant from keep trying, and so it kept trying and finally so was able to climb. The morale is quite interesting, as the story just doesn't describe the winning attitude, the persistence of he ant, but it says, looking at this ant try so hard and finally able to achieve what it wanted to, it gave courage to the rest of the ants too and so stared the march to the top. This is the essence of this pic the way I see it, hence titled Lead.

1931.
We were on the way out with two tired, cranky kids, but I had to stop and get a (crappy) hasty shot of this famous piece by my Surrealist hero.
There were two very annoying airheads standing in front of us practically nose-to-glass, blocking everyone else's view while they giggled and whispered to each other. I had to rather heroically restrain myself from knocking their empty heads together so I could get the photo and move on out the door before the kids had twin seizures.
