This beauty was part of seal colony just across the reef from our boat. This individual was curious enough to come close to the boat to check us out.

Young male Polar Bear (Ursus maritimus) cranes his long neck to sniff out the shore just in front of him. He was surface swimming, with only his head visible, so when he struck this pose it reminded us of a periscope on a submarine. Granted this periscope is mostly horizontal.
This Carolina Wren was bouncing around in the flowerbed and went into the cone flowers. I thought it was cute how it popped out in the middle. My backyard, Central Bucks PA.

A juvenile Pelagic Cormorant swimming partially submerged in Haro Strait, off Sidney's (BC) waterfront, on a heavy overcast and blustery day.
This was another minor miracle as it did not mind me pretending to be a rock on the shore of Sea Glass Beach near the boat launch while it fished for lunch. No cropping was done on this shot. The boys were happily building a fort with driftwood at the other end of the beach.

This little moose calf was totally hidden in the grass. Then, I heard him calling to mom, all of a sudden there was his nose sticking almost staright up. Mom was lying about 50 feet to his right.
A Little Blue Heron pokes his head above the grasses on the slope to the water to make sure we didn't get too close.
Caribou walking through some high tundra in the low evening light. This was enjoyable to watch. One of my favorite caribou shots. You knew it was a caribou, so no need to see the rest when you can watch this. Frankly, seeing anything more than the antlers would have ruined this one. Anhinga ~ (Anhinga anhinga)
An Anhinga surfaces and takes a breath before submerging and returning to its hunt for fish. It is not hard to see why the Anhinga is colloquially referred to as the 'snakebird' in Florida.
Thanks for visiting!

The whooper swan is a large white swan, bigger than a Bewick's swan. It has a long thin neck, which it usually holds erect, and black legs. Its black bill has a large triangular patch of yellow on it. It is mainly a winter visitor to the UK from Iceland, although a small number of pairs nest in the north
