TREVISO - ITALIA

...

Autumn, the period of grey, the period of fog, the month before Winter...

but, please, look what warm and deep colors it has...

all around you trees are covered of yellow, orange and deep, deep red... warm colors which cover the ground too and make the scenery full or joy, wonder, surprise and infinite beauty...

even in an abandoned cottage in the countryside...

This is Autumn and it is here...

Original MidJourney AI assisted digital abstract with iPad Pro, TouchRetouch, procreate, and Apple Pencil.

I recently tried out the new Text-to-Image AI called MidJourney. I am blown away. The quality of its images is a huge step up from previous tools I’ve used (‘WOMBO Dream, Starry AI, and NightCafe).

The output still needs to be upscaled, de-noised, and repainted a bit, but not nearly as much as with other tools.

The user interface is a crazy nightmare… Imagine a Unix-style command line you access from a Discord chat server. There is a bit of a learning curve, but the output is worth it.

The female House Sparrows in my garden seem to get on very well and as a rule do not often fight These two males seem to think it is their duty every time they see each other to have a very loud and public battle . Showing off in front of the girls I suspect !

House Sparrow are still a common bird in Uk in gardens parks and around farms . They feed on grain buds and scraps . They are listed as a red list species which means they at serious risk. In the last 15 years the House Sparrow population in London has dropped by almost 70% and they are now completely absent from many city centers

Peak period on Sydney harbour.

Last Saturday night at McMahons Point Wharf.

Saturday 12th October, 2024.

Part of my recent dusk walking tours around the harbour.

Lately I have been parking the car along Blues Point Road, and walking down to the harbour.

A catamaran had just picked up more wedding guests from the McMahons Point Wharf, and was embarking on its dusk wedding cruise.

Meanwhile, the 'John Nutt' ferry - coming from Darling Harbour - was just about to dock at McMahons Point Wharf, to collect passengers going to Luna Park (Milsons Point) and then under the bridge to Circular Quay.

The 'John Nutt' is Sydney's newest ferry, commencing service in July, 2024. It is one of the new Parramatta River Class of catamarans. John Nutt was an engineer who was chiefly responsible for constructing Sydney's Opera House.

Becan is an archaeological site of the Maya civilization in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica. Becan is located near the center of the Yucatán Peninsula, in the present-day Mexican state of Campeche,Archaeological evidence shows that Becan was occupied in the middle Preclassic Maya period, about 550 BCE, and grew to a major population and ceremonial center a few hundred years later in the late Preclassic.

This is another collection of images which have been photographed over a long period of time. These are photographs taken mostly on holidays throughout our great English Counties. In the day we have travelled the length and breadth of Great Britain, with many coastal and country walks and a lot of photography.

This selection has been chosen from the many Cornwall photographs I have taken. Cornwall is a great county to visit with many places of interest and lots of diversity. We enjoyed many a walking holiday here in the day.

Millstone Grit is an informal term for gritstones which are found in Pennines and the Peak District. These sediments were laid down in the Paleozoic era, in the Carboniferous period, about 360 million to 300 million years ago. Gritstone is a hard, coarse grained, siliceous sandstone, the name is given to sandstones which are quarried for building material. British gritstone was used for millstones to mill flour, to grind wood into pulp for paper and for grindstones to sharpen blades.

A torrential rain period is about over now in Suriname. Because of this, the country had to open the floodgates of its main reservoir called Afobaka Dam that produces nearly all the electricity of the country. But opening the floodgates affect the level of the river and a lot of the neighboring constructions such as the Bergendal Resort in Brokopondo, Suriname.

Rumbeke Castle

In the early 16th century, Jacques I de Thiennes had a 15th-century noble farmstead converted into a castle. The final form of the castle arrived in 1535.

In 1730, the castle of Rumbeke was thoroughly rebuilt.

The counts of Thiennes owned the castle until 1856. By marriage, it then came into the hands of the de Limburg Stirum family until 1988. During that period, it was often damaged; by the Beggars, the wars of Louis XIV, the French Revolution, and WWI and II. During World War II, the castle became the residence of German officers .

Between 1961 and 1964, the castle was renovated.

-----------------------------

Magome-juku, seen here in the early evening, is one of a handful of well-preserved "post towns" along the old Nakasendo, a route which connected Kyoto and Edo (Tokyo) during the Edo period.

These days, many tourists walk parts of the old route. The section between the towns of Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku is particularly popular, and has been declared a National Historic Site of Japan.

Jal Mahal (meaning "Water Palace") is a palace located in the middle of the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur city, the capital of the state of Rajasthan, India. The palace and the lake around it were renovated and enlarged in the 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber

In the past, at the location of the lake, there was a natural depression where water used to accumulate. During 1596 AD, when there was a severe famine in this region there was consequent acute shortage of water. The then ruler of Ajmer was, therefore, motivated to build a dam to store water to overcome the severe hardships caused by the famine to the people inhabiting the region. A dam was constructed, initially using earth and quartzite, across the eastern valley between Amer hills and Amagarh hills. The dam was later converted into a stone masonry structure in the 17th century. The dam, as existing now (see picture), is about 300 metres (980 ft) long and 28.5–34.5 metres (94–113 ft) in width. It is provided with three sluice gates for release of water for irrigation of agricultural land in the down stream area. Since then, the dam, the lake and the palace in its midst have undergone several rounds of restoration under various rulers of Rajasthan but the final restoration in the 18th century is credited to Jai Singh II of Amer. During this period, a number of other historical and religious places, such as the Amer Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Khilangarh Fort, Kanak Vrindavan Valley were also built in the vicinity of the lake. All these places are now linked under a tourist corridor of road net work.

Je me suis tourné vers lui.

The blue hour (from French l'heure bleue) is the period of twilight early in the dawn each morning and late in the dusk each evening, during the nautical twilight phase, when the Sun is at a significant depth below the horizon and when the residual, indirect sunlight takes on a predominantly blue shade.

Green Hairstreak, Callophrys rubi.

Wing Span; 27-34mm.

Flight period; Primarily May – June, but can be seen from late March.

Habitat; Chalk grassland, woodland rides and clearings, heathland, moorland, bogs, railway cuttings, old quarries and rough, scrubby grassland. This species occurs on a wide range of soils but is strongly associated with scrub and shrubs.

Caterpillar Foodplants; Common Rock-rose (Helianthemum nummularium) and Common Bird's-foot-trefoil (Lotus corniculatus) are used on calcareous grassland, while Gorse (Ulex europeaus), Broom (Cytisus scoparius), and Dyer's Greenweed (Genista tinctoria) are used on heathland and other habitats. Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) is used almost exclusively on moorland and throughout Scotland. Other foodplants include shrubs such as Dogwood (Cornus sanguinea), Buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica), Cross-leaved Heath (Erica tetralix) and Bramble (Rubus fruticosus). In fact, they have the widest range of food plants of all the British butterfly species.

Distribution; Widespread throughout Britain and Ireland. However, it is absent from the Isle of Man, Outer Hebrides, Orkney and Shetland. Also found in most of mainland Europe as well as many parts of Asia and northern Africa.

Distribution Trend Since 1970’s; -30%

The Green Hairstreak holds its wings closed, except in flight, showing only the green underside with its faint white streak. The extent of this white marking is variable, frequently reduced to a few white dots and may be almost absent. Males and females look similar and are most readily told apart by their behaviour. Rival males may be seen in a spiralling flight close to shrubs, while the less conspicuous females are more often encountered while laying eggs.

Although this is a widespread species, it often occurs in small colonies and has undergone local losses in several regions.

This butterfly, the only green butterfly in the UK, is the most widespread of our Hairstreaks. However, it is also a local species, forming distinct colonies which can be as small as a few dozen individuals, although other colonies can be much larger. Both sexes always settle with their wings closed, the brown upper sides only ever being seen in flight. The undersides, by contrast, provide the illusion of being green, an effect produced by the diffraction of light on a lattice-like structure found within the wing scales. This provides excellent camouflage as the butterfly rests on a favourite perch, such as a Hawthorn branch. This butterfly will also regulate its body temperature by tilting its wings appropriately to catch the sun's rays. This butterfly is found throughout the British Isles, partly due to the wide variety of food plants it uses and the wide range of habitats it frequents.

Males are territorial, and during the Spring will wait at their selected perching sites for a female to appear. This species has just a single brood and following mating, the females will lay their green coloured eggs singly. The eggs will hatch a week later and the young caterpillars, which are green with black markings along their backs, will feed immediately and develop rapidly. During the Summer, the caterpillars will travel to ground level to pupate and spend the Winter in the leaf litter. The following Spring the new butterflies will emerge.
