Guerra, s.

...

Autumn, the period of grey, the period of fog, the month before Winter...

but, please, look what warm and deep colors it has...

all around you trees are covered of yellow, orange and deep, deep red... warm colors which cover the ground too and make the scenery full or joy, wonder, surprise and infinite beauty...

even in an abandoned cottage in the countryside...

This is Autumn and it is here...

I recently tried out the new Text-to-Image AI called MidJourney. I am blown away. The quality of its images is a huge step up from previous tools I’ve used (‘WOMBO Dream, Starry AI, and NightCafe).

The output still needs to be upscaled, de-noised, and repainted a bit, but not nearly as much as with other tools.

The user interface is a crazy nightmare… Imagine a Unix-style command line you access from a Discord chat server. There is a bit of a learning curve, but the output is worth it.

Chr. zurück. within a period of 10 minutes i woke up, jumped in and out of the shower and literally ran outside with a huge buzz of excitement when i saw fog (first time i've seen fog since last winter and i LOVE it)

hahahaha. i mean, most shots didn't work out because of my 50mm lens to fit this whole thing in i had to have the camera pretty far away, and it was too far for the camera to respond to my remote.. so it was all a case of 'self timer and RUN RUN RUN' hahaha most times i didn't make it. fun!!!!

1923 Locomobile, Model 48 from the Nickel period. $9000 dollars when new in 1923!

Locomobile was one of the earliest manufacturers in the advent of the automobile age. For the first two years after it's founding in 1899, the company was located in Watertown Massachusetts. In 1900, production was transferred to Bridgeport, Connecticut where it remained until the company's demise in 1929. The example above is a 1923 Model 48 touring car, and a very original example that had been owned by one family for over 60 years. Power is provided by a 525ci T-head 6 cylinder engine that is rated at a true 100hp. President Warren G. Harding had the exact some car and model during his tenure in the White House.

Model 48 and the Durant years

The most important for the marque became the impressive Model 48. Introduced in 1911 as the "type M," it had a very conservative, perhaps dated, concept. It had a conventional but huge chassis with a wheelbase of 143 inches (3,632 mm). Its engine was a straight six with side valves; cylinders were still cast in pairs and it featured a nonremovable cylinder head. Displacement was 429.4 cu in (7.0 L), from a 41⁄2+ in × 41⁄2+ in (114 mm × 114 mm) bore and stroke, giving it a 48.6-hp tax rating by the North American Chamber of Commerce. While called the "M" internally, this car is usually referred to by its tax hp rating. The brake horsepower rating was somewhere north of 90 for the original model, higher in the later versions. Quality of materials and workmanship were impeccable and among the best in the world. Such was also its pricing: A typical open-body cost about $10,000 when the average Model T Ford Phaeton cost about $300. Locomobile also offered custom designs for the lamps and metal work, carried out by Tiffany Studios. Until 1915, left- or right-hand drive could be specified; afterwards, left-hand drive became standard. Right-hand drive cars were meant for export and sat on a chassis four inches shorter. Around 1919, the engine was updated with a longer 51⁄2+ in (140 mm) stroke, for 525 cu in (8.6 L) displacement while retaining the same tax hp rating.

A smaller "38 hp" model, very similar to the Model 48, was added in 1913. The model 38 has a 425 cu in (7.0 L), 62 bhp (46 kW) version of the T-head six and sits on a somewhat shorter 140 inches (3,556 mm) wheelbase. By 1914, Locomobile had stopped selling all four-cylinder models to concentrate exclusively on sixes.

In July 1922, Locomobile was acquired by Durant Motors, which not only continued using the Locomobile brand name for their top-of-the-line autos until 1929, but also still produced the Model 48 until its demise in 1929. Until the mid-1920s, this car was Locomobile's only offering. In 1925, the marque brought out their first new model, the 8-66 Junior Eight, with a more contemporary straight-eight engine, and more importantly, a lower price of $1,785.

Ovingham, Northumberland

Ovingham's parish church of St Mary dates to the Saxon period, with major rebuilding in the 13th century and again in the Victorian period.

St Mary's church was the site of historic drama in 1534, Henry VIII's church commissioners, sent to dissolve Hexham Abbey were challenged from the top of the church tower by the abbot, dressed in armour. The abbot was hanged for his impudence, ostensibly for wearing armour, which was forbidden to a cleric.

Nostalgic period

the last one

Gent 2012

A torrential rain period is about over now in Suriname. Because of this, the country had to open the floodgates of its main reservoir called Afobaka Dam that produces nearly all the electricity of the country. But opening the floodgates affect the level of the river and a lot of the neighboring constructions such as the Bergendal Resort in Brokopondo, Suriname.

The highlight of the shrine is the rows of torii gates, known as Senbon torii (千本鳥居), "thousand torii". The custom to donate a torii began spreading from the Edo period (1603–1868) to have a wish come true or in gratitude for a wish that came true, with successive gates being added up to the present day by donors out of gratitude. Along the main path there are around 800 torii gates

During the long period of grey gloomy skies we have had in the UK, rather than complain (too much) I got out and about looking for new locations. As a result I happened upon Linwood Common in Lincolnshire, just outside Market Rasen. It's not much more than a large clearing in the woods but I realised it had a lot of potential. The first decent forecast had me heading back. Maybe a bit more mist is required to do it full justice but I spent about three hours there...just loved it. There are already two photos on here from later in the morning. I hope they do justice to the location.

During the stay at home period we often take a walk in the neighborhood. Some of the houses xeriscape their front yards, a process of gardening that reduces the need for irrigation.

mouflons en période de rut

Tossa de Mar, La Selva, Girona (Spain).

ENGLISH

Tossa de Mar is a holiday resort located in Catalonia on the Costa Brava, about 95 kilometres north of Barcelona and 100 kilometres south of the French border. It is accessible through Girona airport, some distance north.

There is ample evidence of settlements dating back to the Neolithic period, and it is believed that the area has been continuously populated since that time. Between the 4th century BC and the 1st century BC appeared the first Iberian settlements, followed shortly after by the Romans in the 1st century.

In 966 Tossa is ceded by Count Miró of Barcelona to the Abbey of Ripoll. Some two centuries latter, in 1187 Tossa is granted its charter by the Abbot of Ripoll, coinciding with the building of a church atop Mount Guardí, the remnants of which can still be seen today.

Sometime in the 12th century the mediaeval town was walled off and a castle was built on the highest point of Mt. Guardí, this castle was to be subsequently replaced by a wind mill, and this in turn by a lighthouse which is still operational.

By the year 1500 the first houses were built extra-muros to accommodate population growth. This process was greatly accelerated during the 17th and 18th centuries, shaping an urban configuration which was to remain practically unchanged until the arrival of mass tourism in the 1950s.

CASTELLANO

Almost 3 weeks ago we had over 11,000 lightning strikes over a 72 hour period. Over 300 fires were started in California. Several of the fires are called "Complexes" because they combine several fires in close proximity. The two largest are over 375,000 acres each. The total of all Cal Fire Incidents is 1.8 million acres.

I have a long distance view & haven't seen more than a few miles or less in the last 3 weeks.

Rail Adventure's 43480 emerges from the Great Western booking hall which spans the lines between platforms 2 and 3 at Tyseley at dusk on a chilly Friday evening. The 125 Group in association with RA and Chiltern Railways had organised this tour reminiscent of the Master Cutler in connection with the 125th Anniversary of the opening of London Marylebone. 1Z46 was due a crew change here and with that duly completed the tour departed this delightful station which is packed with period features of the railways of yesteryear.

The current City Hall for the city of St. Louis, having housed city government since 1898, is a landmark by appearance, reputation and city designation (since 1971). Efforts to build what would become the current City Hall (seen above) got underway in May 1888 when the City Hall Commission was formed. On April 4, 1889, an ordinance was passed to authorize the Commission to advertise for bids for the building. The original cost was not to exceed one million dollars. The commission chose the design of George Richard Mann, of the firm Eckel & Mann of St. Joseph, from the 37 national entries. His design was titled "St. Louis 1892", obviously expecting it to be completed by 1892. A French-style plan, inspired by the Hotel de Ville or City Hall of Paris, with ornamental dormer windows and former towers, it also recalled architectural elements of the Chateau de Chambord on the Loire River in France.

The construction of City Hall started July 19, 1890, with Mayor Edward Noonan's daughter Zoe, breaking ground. The cornerstone was laid on June 6, 1891. No bond issue was passed to finance construction of the new City Hall, explaining the 14 years required to finish the building. Funds came from general revenue and the sale of city property. Every year or two, the Council, would authorize an average of $110, 000 to continue construction. An ordinance was passed on Sept, 10, 1893 to limit the total cost at two million dollars. Though the building was not completed, it was finally occupied on April 11, 1898 when Mayor Henry Ziegenhein headed a ceremonial parade of city officials from the old building to their offices in the new City Hall. In 1904, the final portions of the building were completed, the Rotunda, the Tucker Boulevard vestibule and the grand staircase, using the design by the St. Louis architectural firm of Weber & Groves. The building was officially completed on Nov. 5, 1904 when Mayor Rolla Wells held an open house for the residents of St. Louis. The final cost of the building was $1,787,159.16. However, the exterior of City Hall was never quite finished. All sides of the building have ornamental dormers called belvederes, each having bare spaces of limestone. These were meant to have carved decorations, yet remained untouched probably due to lack of funds. Despite its incomplete state, City Hall was praised for its "splendid architectural composition," and called "an impressive period piece of craftsmanship". Unfortunately, a poorly executed acid cleaning and years of exposure to coal smoke has left the original pink and orange exterior tarnished.

Its Tuesday morning 1st period. Im very tired and not feeling well. I fell asleep last night around 10pm. Then my mom woke me up at 10:30 for something and i thought it was time to get up, I felt very rested, which is odd. I then went back to bed and slept till 5:30 this morning which is the normal time i wake up, i ate breakfast and then i went back to bed. I slept till 7:10 which is weird. I now feel as if i got no sleep.

Im catching something as well, my throat is killing me, and i just have that feeling that im going to get sick.

Anywho, back to what i was saying, its Tuesday morning 1st period, Im working on my final project for video 1 and i decided for the career that i wanted to talk about is director. I still have yet to film my adapt a story which i hope i can film tomorrow yet they are calling for a shit load of snow later today and tonight and alot of people are preparing for no school tomorrow.

I also should finish my math review homework, i only have a few questions left, but its like my brain gave up. Oh well, we're going over it in class. I have a math test tomorrow. ugggh.

I also have history homework to do. My review sheet. It is due in class which is 9th period so i have awhile, yet i need to study cause the test is also Wednesday.

My school sucks, literally. There was a school board meeting last night, and it was about how they might take out all the art courses in our school so that they can be replaced for the football team. Our football team sucks, we loose every game.

Oh and i finished reading Awakening. It was absolutly amazing. The ending was a little abrupt, but dont fret, Destined will be released in November.

My ipod is acting up. The internet is acting up even though i have Wi-Fi...looks like i might have to call Apple, and Geek Squad.

Hence this is called the Art of Complaints

Well with my love of period dramas I think this landscape is very fitting to the lake scene from Pride and Prejudice 'oh Mr Darcy'

The Doll Museum in the Rocca of Angera was founded in 1988 by the wish of Princess Bona Borromeo Arese, and displays over a thousand dolls made between the 18th century and the present day.

The dolls, which are displayed inside furnished dolls’ houses and miniature shops, are made of all kinds of material, including wood, wax, papier-mâché, china and cloth.

In addition to the wealth of period and contemporary dolls on display, which places the Museum among the most important in Europe in this sector, there is also a section devoted to toys from non-European cultures as well as a collection of 19th century French and German automatons from the collection of the Petit Musée du Costume of Tours.

Combination of 15 liter tank, nitrox and relaxed diving rules imposed by S.M.Y. Ondina helped me to enjoy one of the best 20 minutes underwater I ever had - everyone in the group surfaced after dive near manta cleaning station, I was only one remaining and enjoyed really close interaction with one black and one white mantas, swimming together with them just less then half meter apart - I was trying to get in front of manta for frontal shot, but it was not letting me, by increasing speed to match mine and to stay close. It was great fun. Typically if many people are underwater simultaneously mantas are really shy and don't want to play, and divers try to keep low profile not to scary off mantas. This time I had luxury to be in the water just by myself for extended period of time, and was allowed by these giants to swim together, not just to sit on the floor.

In addition to that it was fist time I saw black mantas - they are more difficult to photoghraph due to lack of contrast white belly provides, but nether less are very magnificent animals.

This is color version of the photo.
