"Smile on Saturday" has the prompt today of "Perfume". Since I don't have any perfume bottles at all and none like the beautiful ones shown in the examples, I decided to go to the source.
After all, many fine perfumes use rose petals and other flower essences to make the scents.

I bought this perfume bottle recently because I fell in love with it. Its so pretty but I'm yet to put perfume in it

Looking at this picture a few days after it was taken I already have such warm memories of this experience. I walked by this shop on my way back to the hotel and was ushered in by an incredibly friendly shop keeper. Within minutes, my wrists, forearm, neck and shirt were covered with different scents as they took down each bottle of perfume, based on my descriptions of what I liked, and let me try them on -- literally. They then brought me bottled water and tea...and I ended up staying there for nearly an hour chatting with the staff, looking at the shop keeper's digital photos of his perfume factories, and sharing my photos of Ottawa winter. I can still remember the looks on their faces when I told them that temperatures were 30C below! I think they must have repeated "minus thirty" about 6 times. Today I went to an exhibition at the John Hansard Gallery; 'More Than Stories' by Anya Lewin. More than Stories is a trilogy of films inspired by Anya Lewin’s family photographs and stories, and their interconnections with screen history and public archives. Each film has at its heart the haunted memories of Jewish life embedded in a particular story passed down to Lewin by her father.
These perfume bottles were on display at the entrance to the viewing room for the first film, set in Cairo, where the family had a perfumery.
I've always been fascinated by perfume and how scent can evoke a memory, and I'm captivated by the beauty of perfume bottles - so I had to photograph the display, despite the awful lighting conditions and difficult reflections.
The films are well worth seeing if you get the chance - I'm sure the exhibition will be moving elsewhere after it finishes in Southampton - look out for it at a local gallery.
