Head was carved out of solid wood over the course of three weeks. The face is not a self portrait, but the imagined face of a relative. The eyes are closed.

Hanging above the head is a ball made of the woodchips from carving the head, held together with wax.

As the ball burns, the wax drips down the face of the carved head.

This is a performance "Zifiri" / "Pitch Dark" made by Alaattin Kirazci in 2007 and photographs were taken by Burak Bedenlier. "Zifiri" was made in an event of "11 Gallery 11 Exhibition" in Fine Art Faculty, Marmara University, Istanbul. The performance questions daily contradictions of human life between our good and bad sides. Which one we are choosing good or bad? Which one we are feeding in? Are we interested in most what other people is doing to us or what we are doing to them?
