This photo was taken at a huge colony located on Right Whale Bay where many of the King Penguins were in varying stages of moulting. During moulting the birds can not go to sea. They stand near the stream/water to keep cool.
The Magellanic Penguin, Spheniscus magellanicus, is a South American penguin, breeding in coastal Argentina, Chile and the Falkland Islands, with some migrating to Brazil. It is the most numerous of the Spheniscus penguins. Its nearest relatives are the African Penguin, the Humboldt Penguin and the Galápagos Penguin.

I took this last summer at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. I happened to catch this group of penguins with their backs turned to this one little guy on the right. I immediately thought it looked like they were talking behind his back or he had been shunned etc... This is a non-HDR shot and I took this before I even new the magic of RAW so it was just a jpeg. I didn't even really know what ISO was at the time. I cleaned it up as best I could.
