We Must Kill Death Penalty !!!
Capital punishment, the death penalty, or execution is the killing of a person by judicial process as a punishment for an offense. Crimes that can result in a death penalty are known as capital crimes or capital offences. The term capital originates from Latin capitalis, literally "regarding the head" (Latin caput). Hence, a capital crime was originally one punished by the severing of the head.
Capital punishment has in the past been practiced in virtually every society, although currently only 58 nations actively practice it, with 95 countries abolishing it (the remainder having not used it for 10 years or allowing it only in exceptional circumstances such as wartime). It is a matter of active controversy in various countries and states, and positions can vary within a single political ideology or cultural region .
are you trying to say you want to kill me?
I am a pimp. I am the undead!

The Penalty Box.
For those of you who monitor a scanner during your fanning adventures, you may recall hearing "The Penalty Box" mentioned in a radio transmission or two. It does have meaning on the railroad.
On a busy mainline where freight trains intermingle with intermodals in both directions, snags develop. Fast train catches slow train. It's expected and can be handled.
When a passenger corridor is added to this mix, the stress level of the DS is exponentially amplified. Rails are bent to weave hotties in and around the slow manifests
Even the priority intermodal train experiences a delay or two to keep passengers moving. Occasionally, this may involve being tucked away in a siding. Hence the Penalty Box.
On this westbound trip, we are taking a timeout. The DS had no other options. He informs us that we will be in the Penalty Box to meet Amtrak 364, 370, and 30.
Thank God for the long days of summer light. My time in the box will put to good use, giving pixel roll-bys to all passing traffic. Trains of CN can be seen behind us overhead, while trains of CSX are just off to thr right.
Port Huron bound 364 has no visible defects as the trailing Charger flies by at 70mph. It's not a bad day to be in the Penalty Box!

One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.

I never viewed photography as a contact sport, but today became the exception. As you may already know, they only keep the beacon stationary for a few minutes at the start and end of the event. Outside this period, it rotates slowly at about 1/4 RPM making long exposure of the 24 beams impossible. The plan was to get in 2 shots with different framings in the limited time before the beacon started spinning.
About half way through the first 3 minute exposure, the guy standing to my right decides to pickup his kid but gives my tripod a good swift kick in the process. The framing was thrown off, but there as no time to fix it. All I could do was pull the battery (big no-no during exposure) and restart the shot. In the meantime, the guy mutters an apology, finishes his 30 second shot, and then hightails it out of Dodge. Some people... Grrr....
(3 minute exposure + bunch of crazy people flashing down by the picket fence)

After selling silk cloth to tourists the girls are free to do what girls like to do most.
I titled it penalty, because it was, sort of. The girl in the front positioned the ball very carefully, the goalie got more and more excited in the background, until the other girl stormed into the scene from behind and decided to run up to the ball and kicked it forward storming towards the goal. Penalty with a Myanmar style twist.

After 90 minutes... the penalties.. An amazing game full of passion and emotions...
One of the most recordable moment of my vacation in Brazil... I will never forget it..
I'm not a Soccer supporter but it was a great moment. I think that every human should go to a Stadium at least once in a life.. even to feel the emotion and the passion of supporters...
My team (Ipatinga won the game...) This penalty was goal...

I can't stop shooting this film. Absolutely love the results from it.

Agitated half as much and extended dev time to 20 minutes. Contrast was definitely brought under control this way.
The acid damage is still present, but not as noticeable this roll.
The weird sticky pink layer on the base (opposite the emulsion) is still there. I had to clean off by hand in soapy water.
Developed for 20 minutes in Caffenol-CL:

6g vitamin C
4.2g iodized salt
24g instant coffee
600mL water
4 inversions every 2 minutes

Yep... we're out.. despite a valiant effort by all 23 players (even though one of the goalies didn't get play-time). Part of me is gutted that we got kicked out on penalties... part of me is also realising that expectations were really really low and that this actually turned out to be a great tournament!
Ah well.. better luck next time in two years, I guess. :)
In the meantime.. here are some pics that didn't make the cut initially, but as I'm recovering from the mental hangover.. I thought these sub-par pics reflected my mood quite nicely!
See you next time when I'm a bit more cheerful! :P
