This guy is from France and he's swimming out of the narrowest slot in The Subway. I had to lower my backpack into the water and jump in after it. Two spots were so narrow I had to tip my backpack on it's side as I was treading (COLD) water to get it through. It was exhilarating! photo: Tim Pearce
On Nov. 20, 2015 Roy and Marnie Pearce were inducted into the Fort Hill Legacy Society, a posthumous honor for those who leave $1 million or more to the University.
Three generations of the Pearce family were present for the occasion, and spent the morning in the Pearce Center for Professional Communication, hearing updates on the center's achievements, and engaging directly with Clemson students and faculty.
In the afternoon, a bronze leaf was dedicated to to Mr. and Mrs. Pearce as a permanent reminder of the lasting nature of their generosity.

When in the nineteenth century the University of Glasgow moved to its present site on Gilmorehill, fragments of the seventeenth century Old College buildings were re-assembed as Pearce Lodge.
The Scottish Renaissance style Old College was half way up the High Street in the mediaeval city; in the street frontage of eleven bays was an archway leading into the west quadrangle with beyond that the inner east quadrangle. A tower stood between the two quadrangles. The new university buildings reproduce the Old College pattern of east and west quadrangles with a tower between. Parts of Pearce Lodge come from the street facade, although that facade had no conical turrets. There were, however, six such turrets in its inner quadrangle. Above the single arch is the cipher of Charles II, crowned in Scotland in 1651.
