Four ex-Santa Fe GP39-2s drag PNWR 663 through Portland's Pearl District towards Lake Yard where it will drop off its train and then run light power across the Willamette and Columbia Rivers to Vancouver, Washington where it will pick up its southbound train.
Portland has some cool buildings. Here’s a shot from a street-level perspective looking up at KOIN Tower, a 35-story Neo-Art Deco beauty...third tallest skyscraper in the city.
Happy Truck Thursday! An appropriate truck and setting given the weather most of the country has been experiencing! This surplus military truck was captured in the St.John's neighborhood of Portland, Oregon by my son Ian on one of his daily runs..

model: Justin Taylor
For my vacation I went to Portland, Oregon. I wanted to take full advantage of the different architecture and diversity in models so I held a casting call.
Justin contacted me after the casting call ended, but I made an effort to book with him since he's got a great look for the 70's theme I had in mind.
I've been doing a lot of 50's lately and, though I love the mid-century, wanted to change things up.
Though I don't like to glamourize smoking (I abhor it) I felt it was appropriate for the concept of a 70's drug pusher. That leather jacket is mine and I wore it practically everyday while in Portland's brisk weather.
The real challenge was lighting. Since I was travelling I didn't bring my brollys or my auxillary lights. Just a single lonely strobe. Thank goodness I had the setting sun on my side.
