Ce n’était autre que Floyd, le chat de sa voisine, qui semblait totalement absorbé par sa séance de toilette.
Floyd se léchait les pattes avec une grâce délicate, comme s’il était en train de préparer une performance pour un public invisible.
Philippe, intrigué par cette scène charmante, décida de capturer ce moment. Il sortit son appareil photo et se mit à l’affût, prêt à immortaliser les gestes raffinés de Floyd …

L’adolescence, on sait quand elle commence, mais pas toujours quand elle finit !
Ceux qui ont des enfants savent très bien que c’est une période relativement difficile à supporter quand nos ados sont plutôt exaspérants dans certaines circonstances de la vie de tous les jours et qu'ils ne veulent de conseils de personne !
Et ne parlons même pas des soucis, manque d’obéissance, inquiétudes multiples et préoccupations qu’ils nous ont apporté pendant cette période qui varie dans le temps suivant le caractère de notre enfant !
Allez savoir ce qu’ils ont dans la tête durant cette période plus ou moins longue de leur adolescence avant de passer à la vie d’adulte et à l’obligation de devoir prendre « leurs responsabilités »

Former Bank of Montreal Building, 309 Cherry Street
The property at 309 Cherry Street contains two buildings: the first is a two-storey, detached bank building on a squared plan with basement, flat roof, and sandstone parapet. The chamfered main entrance at its northwest corner addresses the Cherry and Villiers intersection in a manner typical of bank buildings from this era.
The building was constructed of buff Indiana Limestone, sandstone, and buff brick in 1920 to the Classical Revival designs of the architecture firm Darling & Pearson; it has additional iron, copper, and wood detailing.
All four of the building's elevations are visible from the public realm. The principal elevations (north and west) flanking Villiers and Cherry streets are symmetrical in design and flank the corner entrance. Both are faced in limestone ashlar masonry set in courses of alternating widths. They are organized into two bays, where each bay has a pair of centered and vertically arranged windows: a flat-headed window opening with shouldered architrave surround and stone sill, and, at the raised basement level, a plain, flat-headed window opening with metal grill. The chamfered corner entrance is emphasized by a sandstone staircase up to the Greek Order portico of the raised front porch that features traditional Doric elements of classical design and is quintessentially representative of the Classical Revival style. A triangular pediment sits atop the entablature, which is supported by two outer, engaged square piers and two inner Doric columns with the standard capitals and fluted shafts. The pediment has copper flashing along its upper edges
and a lone anthemion-style acroterion at its apex (two more anthemia were placed at each lower point of the pediment, but these have since been lost). The tympanum is left plain. Underneath the cornice there are mutules with guttae, and the cornice line breaks beyond the portico and runs across the length of both the north and west elevations; the copper flashing continues atop this extended cornice as well. Alternating triglyphs and metopes pattern the frieze, while guttae beneath the triglyphs break into the otherwise plain architrave. Like the cornice, the bottom line of the frieze extends outside the entablature to create a stringcourse along the north and west elevations. The main door opening has a stone architrave surround and cornice. Tying together the main entrance and the entablature, the frieze design in the entablature is repeated on a larger scale in wood carving over the door: two triglyphs and a metope with a clock inset. A pair of rectangular, vertical sidelights with iron grilles in a geometric pattern flank the door; smaller versions are inset to the door panels. The metal door handles, likely brass, are a simple and elegant curving design.
The three bays of the east elevation are comprised of buff brick set in an English Garden Wall bond. It originally had three segmental arch windows with stone sills and irregularly placed basement windows. Building permit elevations from 1980 illustrate how one of these windows has undergone several layers of alterations, from initial infill, a large rectangular opening, to its present small metal door and stairwell with landing; the basement windows have also been repositioned several times. A simple, rectangular chimney stack devoid of ornamentation projects from the southeast corner.
The south elevation has the same brick and bond as the east, but the façade is plain and without windows or decoration. Overall, the building retains a high degree of integrity in both its form and exterior decorative details, such that the original 1920 Darling & Pearson design is quite legible.
The Second Classical Revival (also referred to as Neo-Classical Revival, or Beaux-Arts Classicism) in Toronto was popular at the turn of the century, from around 1890 to 1930. The return to classical forms was influenced by the respected Ecole des Beaux-Arts in France, which taught and championed the classical principles to a generation of architects, and the seminal event of the 1892 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago that became an international advertising platform for classically styled buildings, which featured heavily at the site. Post offices, libraries, and banks were typologies to which this style was frequently applied. Their façades typically emphasized a main, central entrance, while those who followed the Greek influence had plain surfaces with less adornment (in contrast to the Roman influence that favoured more layers of ornamentation).
However, the architrave does bear evidence of removed signage from previous occupants. Shell Canada Ltd. is listed as the property owner; they submitted a permit for alterations to build a basement entrance and a platform at the east elevation entrance. It was likely at this time (or even earlier) that the original window glazing, mullions, and transoms were replaced.
The design elements of classical architecture projected certain stereotypes within the minds of the public that banking institutions in particular wanted to associate with their business, such as endurance, integrity, and even wealth. Banks designed in the Classical Revival styles appeared like 'Temples of Finance' with their Greek or Roman orders, or even emulated strongboxes through the stone material of their exteriors and compact, balanced layouts. These features encouraged trust from potential clients and subtly communicated that this was a secure and reliable place to invest one's finances.

Le dilemme le plus courant auquel on est confronté lorsqu’on photographie un animal sauvage en hiver est de déchiffrer la meilleure façon d’exposer votre image.
Le contraste saisissant entre la fourrure sombre des animaux et le monde excessivement blanc qui nous entoure peut créer des conditions de prise de vue difficiles.
Alors, comment exposer nos images en hiver ?
Malheureusement, il n’existe pas ici de solution universelle.
Au lieu de cela, la surexposition et la sous-exposition ont chacune leurs propres avantages qui peuvent conduire à de meilleurs résultats en fonction de la situation et de votre affinité en post-traitement …
La surexposition est utile et conduit généralement à de meilleurs détails sur l'animal et ses ombres, tout en conduisant souvent à une légère surexposition de certaines zones de neige blanche.
En règle générale, les zones surexposées peuvent être traitées lors du post-traitement en rendant les fonds d'un blanc pur et en se penchant sur les sections lumineuses. C’est idéal pour les portraits et les prises de vue minimalistes d’un sujet les jours où la lumière est plus douce.
La sous-exposition, en revanche, est plus efficace les jours plus lumineux sans couverture nuageuse et peut être plus efficace pour capturer tous les détails de l'image. Cela peut aider à éliminer la lumière intense qui masque souvent les hautes lumières et à attirer l'attention sur d'autres détails de l'image : l'arrière-plan, le premier plan et le ciel.

I never realized the lead plant blooms. The color on both foliage and flowers was quite nice but I suspect that won't last. In between gusts of wind I got this shot which includes a bit of the foliage.

Tak Wing Pawn Shop
The building at No. 72 Des Voeux Road Central is four-storey high. It is a typical verandah-type shophouse where the front façade projects over the pavement and is supported by two columns to form a covered walkway. It is easily identifiable by the five plastered plaques bearing the Chinese name“德榮大押” on the front façade facing Des Voeux Road Central and the side elevation facing Man Yee Lane (萬宜里). The wall of the side elevation is finished with plaster marked with faux horizontal joint lines. There are altogether 15 metal-framed windows on the side elevation, with one row of four situated slightly higher than the others, which are believed to be the windows for the internal staircase. On the ground floor at the rear elevation is an enclosed backyard. A flagpole used to sit on a short stepped base on the left-hand side of the roof, but it was removed sometime between 1980s and 1990s and only the base remains now.
The building is situated at the intersection of Des Voeux Road Central and Man Yee Lane. Its location on the corner provides a side entrance, catering to customers who wish to avoid being seen entering the pawnshop from the main street.
The unique setting and some iconic features of a traditional pawnshop can still be seen inside the shop on the ground floor today. The main hall features a wooden “shy screen”(遮醜板), in an L-shape, blocking the view inside from the main door and side entrance to protect customers’ privacy. Behind the screen is a high counter that divides the front and back of the shop, where the pawnbroker serves customers. The height of the counter allows the pawnbroker to have a full view of the shop to ensure security. However, both the wooden screen and the finishes of the high counter are relatively new, following recent renovations carried out on the ground floor.
Security is a prime concern for this building, as evidenced by the verandahs on the upper floors, all of which are fitted with green metal grills to safeguard the pawnshop from burglars. Of particular interest are the coin motifs along the bottom of the metal grills, adding some decorative details to the functional design of the building.
The original built form of the building, including the footprint and the verandahs with their supporting columns, has been retained. Various renovations have been carried out over the years on both the exterior and interior of the building on the ground floor, such as the supporting columns and all the walls have been refurbished with new stone tiles and the floor has been laid with new modern tiles.
The changes seem to be mainly confined to the ground floor, whereas the exterior of the upper floors has remained intact. The only exception is that the figure “1940” that was previously painted on the roof parapet has now been removed. Overall, the building has been kept in a generally authentic condition in terms of its built form and original appearance. The building is an example of traditional pawnshop occupying an entire pre-war shophouse. The ground floor still opens for business, while the upper floors, which were previously used to store large pawned items, seem to be vacant. Pre-war shophouses that are entirely dedicated to a single pawnshop are becoming increasingly rare in Hong Kong as a result of urban development.

This note about the changes is partly here for me to remind myself which pictures had tree branches sprouting freely in the sky held there by clouds alone, amongst other bad edit signs glowing, flashing, jumping and screaming at me the editor that was obviously not in a good edit place.
The was singing quietly and I joined in as I saw the wonders opening up before me. Photoshop and I were suggesting ideas and the cairn was still an old, old song and so it went on. Then after colour and mono leaving out people and enhancing light and shade it was time for two paintings to be made. Suddenly Six versions are ready and the song goes with them to share with you wherever you are.

With more people around the world staying at home due to lockdowns and other restrictions, the need for household chores has increased, says the report. But analysis of data from 38 countries suggests that, while all people have increased their unpaid workloads, “women are still doing the lion’s share”. The report also found that women are taking on a greater intensity of care-related tasks compared to men. “Everything we worked for, that has taken 25 years, could be lost in a year,” UN Women deputy executive director Anita Bhatia.

Despite New Jersey being the most densely populated state, it holds tremendous diversity in preserved open space, especially our coastal salt marshes. The preservation of these wetland areas has played a huge role in the recovery of the osprey population in New Jersey. Today, they are home to the majority of ospreys (86%) who nest along the Atlantic Coast. Osprey nests define our coast and colonies are located along the entire coast from Sandy Hook to Cape May and west on the Delaware Bayshore up the Maurice River to Salem. This year a total of 668 active nests were recorded in New Jersey, with 75 of those being new nests from various regions of the state. This is well above the historic pre-DDT estimate of 500 nesting pairs and goes to show that ospreys and humans can coexist in New Jersey as long as we continue to protect wetland areas and conserve our natural resources, like forage fish, that ospreys need to thrive. The largest population gains in the state, from 2013 to 2017, were observed in both Monmouth and Ocean Counties, from 130 in 2013 to 207 in 2017.
The Osprey (Pandion haliaetus), sometimes known as the Sea Hawk, Fish Eagle or Fish Hawk, is a diurnal, fish-eating bird of prey. It is a large Raptor, reaching more than 24 inches in length and a 71 inches wingspan. It is brown on the upper parts and predominantly greyish on the head and under parts, with a black eye patch and wings. In 1994, the osprey was declared the provincial bird of Nova Scotia, Canada.

There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

For Monochrome Monday here's a little vignette seemingly straight out of the old west. According to an old USGS topo map these ramshackle log cabin structures are in a place named Beals. But I can find no information about this spot other than that name. So perhaps it was just a lonely ranch or maybe it is a ghost town with a hidden past. It's fun to imagine that perhaps Kid Curry passed this way to rendezvous with Butch and Sundance at Hole-in-the-Wall or maybe Ike Gravelle rode through on his way to blow up the NP's Yellowstone River bridge near Livingston or....you fill in your own wild west tale.
But even if it doesn't look like it at times, it's very much the 21st century as Montana Rail Link's 844 Logan Local is seen at about MP 5.4 on MRL's 6th Sub (Harrison Branch) rolling north (timetable east) through a classic western high plains landscape. They are dropping downgrade toward Antelope Creek which they'll follow back through a canyon that cuts through the London Hills on their return toward the 5th Sub (former NP passenger main) at Sappington. Leading the eight loaded covered hoppers are two classic EMD GP35s, MRL 403 and 401 blt. Dec 1964 as DRGW 3039 and Jan. 1964 as DTI 353 respectively.
Serving only one customer, this branch sees service once a week at most to reach the tiny country elevator at the end of the line. I can't verify the veracity of this claim, but I've been told by railroaders that the only reason this anachronism survives is that the owner of the Harrison Elevator Co. is an old friend of MRL's owner, billionaire industrialist Dennis Washington. If true it would certainly help to explain the otherwise unexplainable!
This branch itself was originally built to Harrison by a Northern Pacific subsidiary in 1889 and extended a year later another 10 miles or so to Norris. Additionally at Harrison another branch forked 7 miles west to a small mining area at Pony. This branch was cut back by the NP during WWII and the outer 10 miles of the main stem to Norris succumbed under BN in 1975 leaving what was left to pass to MRL in 1987.

あらすじ
大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。
上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。
そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。
大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。
「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」
ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。
本編
人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。
ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。
もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。
二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。
再生だ。
明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。
それが再生の意味だ。
十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

Stongylostoma es un turbelario pequeño entre estos seres pequeños, pero inmensamente gigante entre los que viven en una gota de agua...Se deja ver a simple vista como un diminuto punto de color rojizo del tamaño del diámetro de un cabello y, al observarse bajo el microscopio, parece una nube redonda de espuma, llena de burbujas de colores.
Poco a poco desde esa gota plana pintada de gotas de color va despuntando una parte aguda con dos pequeños puntos de brillo de rubí, que son sus ojos y Stongylostoma empieza a tomar forma de fantasma.
El borde aplastado y sunuoso de Stongylostoma ayuda a este turbelario a vivir suspendido mientras planea en lo más alto de las aguas del Lago, consumiento allí, algas y pequeños microorganismos de los que extrae sus pigmentos de color.
Tras su digestión, las gotas de lípidos que contenían son almacenadas en el interior de su cuerpo, adornándolo con burbujas de brillo cálido y metálico que actúan como flotadores y sostienen su gran pequeño cuerpo sobre la superficie del plancton.
Dentro del grupo de los turbelarios se incluye a todos platelmintos de vida libre junto a un reducido grupo que o bien vive sobre otros animales, es ectoparásito o se desarrolla como endosimbionte.
Los que viven en las aguas dulces, aunque son de un tamaño muy variable - desde microscópicos hasta de 3 cm de longitud-suelen presentan cuerpo aplastado y en forma de gusano, dos o cuatro ojos, setas o surcos ciliados y una epidermis total o parcialmente ciliada en la que aparecen insertas unas estructuras en forma de bastoncillo, los "rabites" que son secreciones de sus glándulas epidérmicas o subepidérmicas.
El tubo digestivo de los turbelarios carece de ano y la boca puede ocupar muy distintas posiciones a lo largo de la línea medio-ventral del cuerpo y la estructura y posición de la faringe permite diferenciar los principales grupos.
Los turbelarios son hermaforditas y su reproducción es, generalmente sexual e implica copulación e intercambio de esperma; sin embargo, los que viven en agua dulce recurren con frecuencia a la reproducción asexual por fisión produciendo cadenas de varios zooides. Algunas razas o
biotipos de planarias también se reproducen por fisión, pero no forman cadenas.
El aparato reproductor de los turbelarios es muy complejo y la forma del intestino varía desde un simple saco (microturbelalios en general) hasta un tubo bastante ramificado (planarias) .
Strongylostoma, probablemente Stongylostoma radiatum vive entre el fitoplancton del Lago de de donde se cita por vez primera, sus contornos cambiantes son un cuadro vivo salpicado de burbujas de color, contornos de nube que pintan un pacífico fantasma .
