UP 2371 leads UP train MPRPBV-10 southbound thru Columbia, IL, just outside of Dupo, IL, on the UP Chester Sub. Having waited over 7 hours for this thing to finally show up, it's good to see a nice result and that the lead power didn't change on the way here.

This array of mills is attached to the municipality of Molenlanden, within the natural region of Alblasserwaard, in the province of South Holland, in the Netherlands.

I've never had to pay to just look at a mountain before but Vestrahorn in the early morning light was well worth the 900 ISK entrance fee.

SIN Pays, or at least it used to. Promotional pin button for the Spanish International Network (now Univision) from around 1976 when the network was seeking carriage on cable systems around the United States. In order to persuade cable operators to carry their Spanish language programming the network paid a small fee for each subscriber on the various cable systems at a time when system operators were paying the various program services for carrying their programming. The promotion worked and SIN achieved fairly wide carriage.

The Spanish International Network was the first satellite interconnected network in the U.S. Followed soon after by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).

The neighbors cat pays a visit.

The Liège Country Bridge is a motorway bridge inaugurated in early June 2000 with the opening of the E40-E25 interchange to traffic. It spans the Meuse River, connecting Angleur to Cointe. Designed by the engineering firm Greisch, it is 162 meters long.

The bridge is a cable-stayed type.

Coming from Cointe towards the Ardennes, it consists of the following sections:

the abutment on the left bank of the Meuse

a 31.5m span on the Quai Banning

a 162m span over the Meuse

a 70m high pylon

a 134m long counterweight abutment.

The span over the Meuse and the counterweight abutment are each supported by 22 cables.

The span over the Meuse was built using the launching method from the right bank of the Meuse.

The counterweight abutment forms the first section of the Kinkempois Tunnel.

I always admire people who can just "do" street photography. They are up there, in my book, with those who seem to be able to waltz into a forest, snap a photo and walk away with an amazing shot. I like to dip my toes into both genres but am never really happy with the results. In fact I seem to recall making it a new year's promise a few years ago that I'd try more when it comes to both street and woodland photography.

With this in mind I headed down to Littlehampton beach front for a spot of street photography. Parked the rental car and tried to pay for my stay - 2 hours should be enough I thought - only for the pay machine to throw a fit and declare it's card reader non-operational. I fumbled in my wallet and frustratingly only had enough coppers and half pennies for one hour of parking. I'll make the most of it I thought and headed off to this location. After a few minutes of standing here, waiting and working on my composition a primary school class and teacher showed up. Not wanting to get into trouble, or get suspicious looks thrown my way I wandered 250 or so meters away to another shelter/bench like this. Set up again only for the same class to show up and sit there after a few more minutes. Frustrated I stomped back to the original location. Almost 20 minutes in and I hadn't really gotten anything. Lo and behold, a few minutes later the same class came back. The teacher grinned at me and I knew then she was doing it deliberately. So I stood my ground, pointed the camera in this direction and waited her out. She blinked first, sheepishly herding her class away to the right of this scene. Victory! But it cost me 25 minutes of my one hour of parking.

Came away with some shots that I'm really happy with though they feel a little same-y with the cool shapes that meander across the scene. I did try and get the odd cyclist but couldn't time it quite right with them being half hidden behind the structure. Guess I need to get out and practice street photography more then....

The Brighton Eye

Brighton used to have a Brighton Eye the same as this one but it had to go when Brighton and Hove City Council agreed a deal with British Airways to build the i360 on the site of the old West Pier. The attraction cost £46 million, with £36 million being funded by a Public Works Loan Board (PWLB) loan through B&H City Council.

Formerly known as the "Brighton i360", the project aimed to attract up to 800,000 paying customers every year. The owner of the site, the West Pier Trust, hoped in 2014 that a successful i360 would lead to the rebuilding of the historic West Pier.

In June 2018, disappointing visitor numbers forced the owners to ask B&H City Council and the LEP for better loan repayment terms. The local paper reported that "in the first full year, from August 2016, the i360 had just over 500,000 visitors, significantly fewer than the 800,000 predicted." The shortfall in visitors was blamed on “poor weather and the unreliable train service to and from London”.

The i360 made a loss of more than £5 million last year, the latest financial reports have revealed. B&H City Council are now owed almost £48 million as the attraction suffered another successive year in the red.
