The Mingsha Sand Dunes almost engulf the Mingyue Pavilion at Crescent Lake just south of Dunhuang, Gansu, China.
I just finished furnishing our pavilion. I painted the old bench white and sew pillows, cushions and a quilt.

I had wanted to do a trip to London to get an interesting highrise/skyscraper shot, but for various reasons that hasn't happened.
Brighton has quite a lot of different interesting buildings that would have fit the theme, but the Royal Pavilion lit up at night was pretty irresistible!
This is a three shot HDR merged in Photomatix and then tweaked in LR and PS.
Week 25 -Architecture
Designed by Bertie Crewe for Thomas Barrasford, the Pavilion Theatre opened at the corner of Renfield Street and Renfrew Street, Glasgow on the 29 February, 1904. It was regarded as luxurious for its time with its decor being described by the owners as “pure Louis XV”. An electrically operated sliding roof ensured good ventilation.
Performances in the early days were mainly variety, melodrama and pantomime. Many of the leading music hall artistes of the period appeared at the Pavilion, including Marie Lloyd, Little Tich, Harry Lauder, Florrie Forde, Will Fyffe, Sarah Bernhardt and a then unknown Charlie Chaplin.
Since the 1930s, the Pavilion began to host pantomimes with top name stars of the Scottish variety scene, such as Harry Gordon and Dave Willis. In more recent times it has produced plays, such as ‘The Sash’ and ‘The Steamie’.
The Pavilion Theatre is now the only privately run theatre in Scotland and one of a few unsubsidised independent theatres left in Britain.
(But)...a lot of photographers think that if they buy a better camera they'll be able to take better photographs. A better camera won't do a thing for you if you don't have anything in your head or in your heart.

A renowned Zen Buddhist temple with centuries of history, Rokuonji Temple is more widely known today as Kinkakuji Temple―a name derived from the famed Golden Pavilion (reliquary hall) that serves as the centerpiece of the temple grounds
One last photo of the amazing Royal Pavilion in Brighton, lit by the rising sun during a 'dawn raid' on August Bank Holiday Monday. Well worth getting out of bed for.......

From Wikipedia : "The Royal Pavilion, also known as the Brighton Pavilion, is a Grade I listed former royal residence located in Brighton, England. Beginning in 1787, it was built in three stages as a seaside retreat for George, Prince of Wales, who became the Prince Regent in 1811. It is built in the Indo-Saracenic style prevalent in India for most of the 19th century. The current appearance of the Pavilion, with its domes and minarets, is the work of architect John Nash, who extended the building starting in 1815."
"The purchase of the Royal Pavilion from Queen Victoria, by Brighton, marked the beginnings of the site's attraction as a tourist destination. The Royal Pavilion has been changed from a private residence to a public attraction under civic ownership. Today, around 400,000 people visit the Royal Pavilion annually. General filming and photography is not permitted inside the Royal Pavilion. Many of the items in the palace are on loan, in particular from HM The Queen, and one condition of the loans is that the items cannot be photographed or reproduced without prior written permission."

Another simple image from last week, straight from camera, no editing. Its nice to have a spare DSLR now as i can take some shots like this while i leave my 600Da to do some deep sky imaging!
The image shows the constellation Orion and the Moon above a oak pavilion i built back in 2012. I also did some quick light painting with my headtorch to give it the red look. I did try for quite a while to get the Moon right above the top of the structure, but when i finally did it didnt look quite right.

Originally laid out between 1696 and 1705, Westbury Court Garden is one of the only surviving 17th-century Dutch water gardens in the UK.
This is the Tall Pavilion, the only remaining building on the estate.
We stayed at this beautiful private pavilion in country Victoria, Australia - I loved it so much, I had to take a shot as a memento!
Just for a few minutes some lovely wind-blown clouds appeared, before fading away. IR, stitched panorama (shifted vertically).
Unlike the last few shots of the Royal Pavilion I've uploaded from further back, here I've gone in quite close to create some deliberate distortion. Both symmetrical and both taken with my 11mm Tokina wideangle, it's always interesting to see the effect a change of location can give.
