Saw some of these beautifully textured wildflowerrs growing along the riverside on a rainy, rainy day a couple of weeks ago.

They really stood out against the lush green foliage surrounding them and the intricate textures on their hardy petals was very beautiful!

Today is the official day of my birthday, Saturday June 28th.

I cannot believe I am 31 already!

Had a very fun (if very late!) night last night, with dinner with friends and family and a live music show, and have the same plans for tonight!

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend so far, my friends!

digital art

Mars 2014

Like the previous photo of a patio table with snow, this bench seat covered with snow seemed like a fun shot to try for with pattern and contrast. Taken at the Quality Inn, Prescott Valley.

The qualities I thought a pattern should have is that it should be repetitive and it should have color. I think it is important to look at the natural world because it allows you to see original content that is not man and you can capture something that occurs on its own volition. I think that nature is beautiful and my inspiration came from nature is of how people will often take pictures of scenery as a way of preserving that memory of nature. I drew that patterns of Polaroids as a way of showing the beauty of nature being captured in a photo. Working in illustrator is difficult and i had to restart multiple times because it simply was not working out or I had clicked something and the image would change. What was also difficult is that the lines are vectors and work as a single layer, changing the image would alter the lines and would end up as a mess. However through struggle it because easier moving and creating shapes. I also learned how to use the bucket-fill tool.

Corliss has always sewn. She learned this from her grandmother, who taught her to make quilts. This skill eventually evolved into clothing design and fabric sculpture. Now, everything old is new again, and we're incorporating quilt designs into polymer clay. This is as much textural as it is is about the patterns and color. These bracelets mimic piecework padded fabric. We're pretty sure grandma would like these.

When one just won’t do

What do snakeskin and florals and stripes have in common? Nothing. And that’s the way I like it.

While these patterns have nothing in common, the colors are either neutrals or reds and greens. That’s what makes this scarf, sweater, and dress (and three patterns) work together.
