© Copyright Jan Richards 246/365 Trying to make a pattern from a dress Anne really liked and wanted me to wear for the rehearsal dinner for their wedding. In the end, I wore the original dress...patternmaking will have to wait for another time (I used to sew a LOT and designed the bridesmaids' dresses for my brother and sister-in-law's wedding, and ours, but there was enough going on in all parts of life at the time of Anne and John's wedding that Anne hoped I'd buy a dress this time around). The tough thing with the dress Anne loved for me for the rehearsal dinner was the smocked waistline. It is a beautiful feature of the dress, and it would have taken HOURS to try to replicate. I know already: I made a dress for Anne to wear to my grad school graduation on her second birthday, and the decorative smocking on that dress took hours and hours and hours. I still have it, in case she has a daughter (or more than one...) who wants to wear it, and/or Matt does, when it is their turn to be parents.

found these at chambin's bookmine, jacksonville, florida. both belonged to one lady (her name is signed inside each) and were with several other very old textiles and sewing texts from the 30s and 40s. in extremely pristine condition. an amazing find!

I want to make the most of this lovely print fabric ... it is covered with pics of Australian birds :-)

Campers designed their own animals, realistic or imaginative, and then made a pattern. This was then cut out of wool felt and hand sewn.

Inside L219 in Lärarutbildningshuset, ie Teachers Education Building. Me and my coursemate E, were to find a jacket/shirt of some sort and make a pattern inspired by it, based on basic design patterns in our coursebook.

To the left, front cover of L'officiel magazine we found the page and jacket design to be inspired by (I'm afraid we never did note who the designer was, ahem), and to the right our 1:1 scale pattern on a dress form (older design, a bit perkier bust area, than the recent dress forms of the same size)

We are both taking the Mönsterkonstruktion och modellskapande, 7,5hp course, ie Patternmaking. A very fun course so far!
